I took advantage of the Buy One/Get One offer to bring home this doll and the Midge/Nikki dolls, and I can't understand why people have panned this Barbie. As soon as I opened the box my daughters were fighting over who got to play with her first, and they loved her. This Barbie comes dressed in a colorful doctor's lab coat, light pink slacks, and a white tee-shirt. Her hair is really pretty, being a slightly darker blonde than the usual Barbie color, and it has lighter streaks, so Barbie must have found a good hairdresser. The haircut is layered and full, and the hair is actually rooted thicker than some other Barbies I've bought recently. The only flaw I've found is that the Barbie's right arm doesn't fold down against her body as far as her left, but I think that's because she is meant to hold the babaies and her medical instruments. The set includes two babies and the things needed to care for them, which made my girls happy because now more of their barbies can be mommies and daddies too. I'm glad I bought this doll, and I really don't see why some other reviewers have been so harsh.

My daughter got this for her 4 year old birthday. She was having much fun with this. Not only did you get a Dr. Barbie, she got 2 babies (bonus) to play with, along with all the medical accessories for her to play doctor as well. One positive and educational aspect for this toy is that Barbie is not only a pretty glamorous doll, having just the looks; she can also be intelligent and caring as well. One area that can be improved is that the the drawer and doors for the changing table are all fixed. You cannot do anything with them. It would make a great storage area for the medical accessories and cards if the doors and drawers can be open/removeable. I think Mattel can learn something from Arco Toys Polly Pocket series.

The durability of this toy is low, because like most barbie products the tiny peices will get lost in a week under adverage play. Of course, you have to allow for the fact the stuff has to look like Barbie can use it, so for as long as it last as a whole - it's an okay set. I knew Barbie had to include herself in this set somehow. The great part is she comes with two extra babies if you want to add some other families with random dolls to hang out with Midge and Alan's kids. You can also bring Midge and Alan's baby for a check up. It's really a fun addition if you have the rest of the Happy Family and even if you don't you could have 'other Barbie' bring Krissy in for a checkup. I think it's cute they gave her the floral smock some kid doctors have instead of the standard white, if only they put storage spaces in the table. So with the Happy Family it promotes the education value of taking care of yourself while your preganant and takening care of baby. And without the Happy Family, with Families of your own invention, it can do the same. And if you don't think pregnant Midge is a good example, I'm sure a career Barbie is, but I don't think the peices will survive long with them being so tiny and no storage.
