This review is from: Barbie as the Island Princess (Barbie) (Step into Reading) (Paperback)
Our 5 year old grandaughter loves the Island Princess Barbie DVD so this early reader was a good step for her. The story is of course abbreviated for this reading level but the pictures are great and she was motivated to sound out the words and get to the end!

Peacock's Tail,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Barbie as the Island Princess (Barbie) (Step into Reading) (Paperback)
My six-year old daughter says:
Once upon a time there was a girl who got ship-wrecked and she floated to an island. She lived there with animals until a prince came and took her to civilization. The book is good for 1 to 8. It is very easy to read. The pictures are very nice. It was fun to get it with my barbie. This is the end, goodbye, no more.

My daughter would rather choose Barbie books than any other kind. As an educator it almost distressing that kids will choose these books over catchy beautifully illustrated picture books. If your child doesn't enjoy reading, this series might be a great way to entice her to read. They are easier to follow if you've seen the movies since so much is left out of the story with a beginning reader.
