my daughter received this toy in September 2004 for her 4th birthday and is having a great time with it! It allows her to sing with or without the recorded music...her creativity just flows...the coffee table has become her stage...I would recommend this toy! Big sister age 6, loves it too! wants to ask Santa for one....

The songs are not age appropriate for the toy,

My daughter's grandfather bought this guitar for her. He only looks at the "For ages 4+" part, so he thought it was a good choice. I think it's a cute toy, although it has no real redeeming qualities. But it's fun and a kick to watch her pretend with it. But I do have a problem with the song selections, with lyrics like "I'm not that innocent" from Brittney Spears and "I look but I don't touch"!! I don't really think it's approriate for 4 year olds, and as one other reviewer stated, by the time girls are 7 it's a boring toy. Not that those songs are for 7 year olds either. So, I'm a bit disappointed and frustrated that I am going to have to deal with her frustration when I get rid of the song cards.

My niece really wanted one of these guitars because she loves to sing and loves Barbie; however, it is very boring for a 7 year old and really doesn't give them the option of "really playing" the guitar. Is great for small children, but not 5 or older.

My daughter just got this guitar and she and her 2 yr. old brother haave so much fun! When they are playing with it and the songs come on I catch myself even singing the songs! It is so cute. Plus my son who is a little rough on his toys has thrown it and steped on it and it still works perfect. We all love our Barbie Guitar! I would definatley recommend this toy.

My 6 year old got this guitar for three kings day (precisely today, January 6). In my opinion the songs are only appropiate for girls age 6 and up, since it has 2 cartridges with 6 popular rock-pop songs that you can find on the comercials for kids bop songs in cartoon network. The volume control is great, so that way you don't get headaches from the loud and constant play, but the headset is kind of confusing. I posted some images from my daughter (the brunette one) showing the "I guess" the correct way to wear the headphones.
Overall, I like this guitar anyways. Hope this help for the other moms.

Loving It!,
This review is from: Barbie "Jam with Me" Electronic Guitar (Toy)
I was very skeptical of the product after reading reviews. I consider myself to be on the over protective side, and the song lyrics concerned me after reading previous reviews. However, my 4 year old daughter got it for her Birthday, and loves it. Even my 2 year old like to play it. The songs are OK, I wish like most, we had a selection to choose from, but honestly she doesn't concern herself with the actual lyrics. She is just so excited to be playing! I recomend it, even with the songs!

My daughter started asking for this guitar in November and wanted Santa to give it to her for Christmas. It is the only toy she would say she wanted when you asked her what she wanted for Christmas. I went to Toys-R-Us about 2-3 weeks before Christmas and luckily found the last one. She opened it on Christmas and her eyes lit up with joy and played it all day and still plays with it. The only problem is I cant find any new cartrdiges for it and I am tired of hearing the same old songs but otherwise we think it was a great purchase.

My 4 1/2 year old bought this with her own money. She was initially attracted to the headset microphone but doesn't use it much. I like the microphone because it holds the mike away from her mouth and doesn't get the feedback she gets with other microphones that she holds.
Her favorite part is singing along with the included tracks (especially "Let the rain fall down.."). Apparently they will eventually sell additional cartridges for more songs. We also have a much cheaper guitar of similar size and operations (handheld mike, but no songtracks) that has already a control piece broken off.

My 4 year old daughter wanted this guitar so bad for Christmas! When she opened it she was thrilled! The guitar has been fun since. Even my 9 year old daughter and 1 year old son have joined in the fun and had a dance party! The only one problem that we seemed to have is to keep the head set on my daughter's head.

We originally purchased this for my 3 year old and it was such a hit that we had to buy another one for our 6 year old...they play with them constantly-love the Shania Twain song--we're big fans...wish there were more cartridges to put in it though. We bought it knowing this was one of the suggestions and we don't regret it one bit.We love the concerts that our girls put on for us!
