I got this game to work on XP and my daughter loves it! Here's what you do after you install the game:
1. Right-click on the desktop, then left-click on New, Shortcut. 2. For the command line, put in "d:\barbie.exe" (where "d:" is the drive letter for the CD on your system). 3. Click Next. 4. Put in the description for this shortcut, such as Barbie Hair Styler. 5. Click Finish. Make sure the CD is in the drive, then run it from this new shortcut.

Fun For Everyone!,

We have had this game now for about three years. We purchased it for our oldest daughter, who is now eight years old. This has always been one of her favorites. Now we have a two-year-old girl, and she loves to play with it too. She does need a little help, but not much. I have to admit, even at 30, I love playing with it too. It has lots of options for makeup, hair styles, and jewelry. The only problem we have had is that it gets stuck once in a while; however, we do have a dinosaur for a computer, so that may be the cause. It has definitely been worth the money!

I bought this used game for my younger granddaughter, since the new ones are very expensive for a passing amusement. It worked fine, and she loved playing with it. The only cautionary tale is that a companion game wouldn't run on Windows XP SP2, but would only run on a much older computer, so you really are taking a chance with an older used computer game, even from a major company.

Okay. I'm 12 now, and got this game when I was about 5, but I must admit that I'm truly disappointed with it's inability to work on XP. I really love this game, and I don't even like Barbie! You don't really have to to like this game, though. Can you believe the fun still hasn't ended for me yet? I really hope they re-release it with the ability to run on XP.(and yes, I have goofed with the capability settings!)If they do so, I'd recommend this simple and fun game to any mother looking for an awesome kid's game that will last through the years.

Tried 98 compatability settings, but still won't run under XP.Upgraded the kid's computer, but this game won't run on the new one. Dual Boot OS's for a 9 year old is a little much.
