This doll, to most children, is a beautiful Barbie with a costume change. To adults, it is introducing their kids to the wonderful play "The Nutcracker."This doll, the most essential of the entire series of 8 dolls, two fashions, one ornament, a carriage (Beautiful- detailed with "gems" and "candies") complete with "Marzipan," the horse and one "My size" doll, includes breathtaking details such as: Four layers of tulle, all but one covered in glitter for that glistening look of just stepping from the timeless tale's pages. The bodice of the gown painstakingly detailed with ruffles, glitter, and an untimately feminie edge. All topped off with permanent ballet slippers, sheer tights (high shimmer) with permanent ties for the ballet slippers, (finally, they won't unravel!) and even a tiny cardboard nutcracker. Her hair, in soft, waist-length golden ringlets, adorned with a shimmering golden crown. She is essential, though, because of her stand, all eight dolls of the series can dance only on her stand. Without Barbie, there is no reason to buy any of the others. Ken as "Eric" and Barbie can dance the night away by both being placed on the stand and moved across any hard surface, all the Kelly's and Tommy's that are cute as a button, are also worthless without Barbie. The draw of the doll, according to the manufacturer, is that her skirt can be reversed and her crown removed to make her "Clara," as opposed to "Princess Clara." I have have a feeling, however, that she will be spending much more time as a princess than as a young girl, upset over her broken Christmas present.

This doll is very beautiful and includes accesories. She comes with a brush, a ribbon to hold her hair up, a clip on crown (a mini-hair clip), a stand that she can dance on (when pushed on hard surfaces). a cardboard nutcracker(an image of the Ken doll with his nutcracker mask on), and her outfit. She has two skirts. The not so visible one (because it's covered up by another skirt) is a hot pink. Her visible skirt is a glittery powder pink skirt. Her shirt includes the famous sugarplum princess arm ruffles and is adorned in glitter, and outlined in very, very (0.1 cm)thin gold rope.

This doll has beautiful features and it is fun but, it also indroduces children to the Nutcracker. It is educational, I'd strongly recomend using it if you are a ballet teacher as a demonstration, especially for younger kids. Ask them to put Barbie in first position and so on. Or, teach them new positions with Barbie. I assure you, this IS educational!

This doll is beautiful and excites kids when they first see it. But after a minute or two of playing with it, the choker breaks, the hair is too tangled and messed up (and unable to return to normal without it falling out when you brush it), and just doesn't hold my daughter's interest. She played with this a few times, then left it buried in the bottom of her Barbie box cause "it just wasn't very pretty anymore." I got my other daughter the Barbie ballerina doll, and that doll was more flexible, fun, and durable for both my girls to play with, and the hair stayed in when they brushed it. I'm going to have to get another one of the ballerina Barbie's for my other daughter, otherwise continue listening to them fight over it. :0)

I got the doll for my daughter this past Christmas and was disappointed on how well and durable it was made. Right after taking it out of the box, I noticed that her tights on her right leg had started to come apart at the seams. One of the bows to her toe shoes is sewed on backwards...its in the front instead of the back. Some of the curls on her hair got frizzy getting her out of the box, so I brushed it the brush included and it just made it more frizzy and took the curl out...and her hair is one of the best features of the doll. I also have a friend who got the doll for her daughter this Christmas and within an hour, Barbie's left foot broke off...She ended up throwing the doll away later on that night.

My 4 year old pleaded for this for months before Christmas. While she was happy when she opened it, it didn't hold her interest. The "dancing" doesn't work that well, especially if you have a tile floor. Her choker broke also! Her hair is "untouchable". The "style" lasted for a few days then it got all matted and tangled. If you try to comb it, it falls out. I was able to untangle it with super strength conditioner but of course, the spiral curls came out and I had to give her a trim to even out the ends.

My daughter is 5 and she loves barbie and wanted these dolls She got the princess and prince and horse and carriage for Christmas The Princess left foot fell off Christmas Day and The Carriage would not stay connected to the horse When we went to change the dolls clothes the necklace broke It is now April and almost nothing is left that can be played with The prince did stay together but she doesn't like playing with it without the barbie There are plenty of other barbie that are much better

regardless of how poorly made. The hair is horrible and the clothes are shabby. (It) could be better made.

I gave this toy to my daughter for Christmas, and it was the best. Until that is, she started to play with it. First, the golden locket necklace broke in three pieces as I was trying to get her hair untangled. Then, the adjustable left foot broke off as she was trying to pose it to do ballet. What good is the "Sugar Plum Princess" without her locket and left foot?

My daughters are 3-1/2 and 7. They have loved the nutcracker ballet since they could talk and when they first saw these in Sept. they could hardly wait to get them! My main complaint about them is durability. The piece on the stand that holds Barbie on did not make it through Chritmas Day nor did Prince Eric's head. My girls have played with this set everyday since Christmas. While they have had fun and enjoy it immensely, I don't think that it will be long before something else breaks(like the horse or the sleigh)We have many Barbies and this is definately not the most durable.
