Too tiny, July 10, 2005

The Barbie dress is really cute, and my daughter would have loved to play with it. She's a taller 5, but not off of the doctor's charts for a 5 year-old. Despite this she could not even get the dress all of the way ON. It was sized extremely small - maybe it would fit 3-5 year olds??? The recommendation says for 4-8 year olds, but I'm not sure how tiny an 8 year-old would have to be to put this dress on. The sleeves are quite tight at the gathers, and the waist is really small. Some elastic in those places, as well as a more generous cut of fabric in general, would have been nice. Also, if the dress had fit it would have been just the right length. An older girl would look ridiculous and the dress would be much too short. My daughter is completely proportionate, but it's no wonder that girls grow up feeling that they are too fat if this is how manufaturer's are going to size clothing for girls! I rated the outfit based on what we would have thought could my daughter actually wear it.

the sparkles shed all over the place!, November 9, 2004

My mom bought this dress for my daughter, who like most little girls wants to play dress up all the time. However, the sparkles on the dress shed EVERYWHERE (her face/hands/our furniture). We had to pronounce the dress "broken" and throw it out. The care tag says "do not wash" so we couldn't even try to wash the sparkles away. The pink princess barbie dress has no sparkles and has been successfully worn almost each day for over 2 months now - however, it is also not washable so will have to be retired soon as well.

Great, just like doll, but the flared front is a good tripper for kids, August 17, 2005

I love this dress, it is so gorgeous and my daughter loves looking just like Erika in Barbie's Princess and the Pauper. She is a tall three year old and fits it perfectly with room to grow, the length is great too, just below the knee, the main problem is that while the flares at the front of the dress are perfect for a Barbie doll, for an active little girl they are in unfortunate places, right where a little foot ends up. These are for playing dress ups for smaller kids the Princess Anneliese is much better for an active running around girl. Both dresses are just beautiful, and my daughter just loves playing in them and playing with her dolls. They seem to be very well made and for the lovely frivolous-ness of them, they seem to be quite hardwearing. A few problems with cleaning them, of course. But worth it, my daughter adores them!
