Product Description

Editorial Review

Serafina, the pampered snowy-white companion of Princess Anneliese, certainly does not lack self-esteem. This chatty kitty burbles over with more than 75 one-liners, including, I am quite the talented kitty, and I love looking pretty. Squeeze her paw, stroke her back, kiss her nose, and Serafina responds with words, songs, purrs, head tosses, tail wags, and, of course, meows. Additionally, when her human friends set up Serafina's jewelry box next to a CD player and insert Serafina's Adventure (included), signals from the CD and jewelry box cause Serafina to do her feline thing! She'll also respond to the Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper and other Serafina DVDs and videos. Measuring a good 22 inches from pink-tipped ears to long fluffy tail, Serafina has blue eyes, a gem-studded crown, and a matching heart-shaped locket, as well as a brush to keep that lush pelt sleek and smooth. Her jewelry box requires one 9-volt battery (not included), and Kitty herself requires three AA batteries (Try Me batteries included, but you'll need fresh ones). --Emilie Coulter

I don't know if this toy is worth the price or not. The doll interacts a little with the movie - not as much as my daughter would like.

The cat is also a battery vampire. It's cute when the batteries aren't drained, but when they get drained, the cat sounds posessed. LOL This was with new batteries put in when we got the doll and burnt out less than a month later.

My daughter does love Serafina, though. She carries her around the house all the time and brings her to bed. This alone makes the toy worth it for us.

4.0 out of 5 stars Meeeoooww!!!, December 27, 2004

I bought two Serafina cats for my two girls(yep gotta buy in doubles) and I think it is adorable-it does react with the cd provided with the cat and it does react with the movie dvd-another thing it does is react to the computer when you go to Barbie.com and play the Princess and the Pauper game-all you do is the same thing as if you were using it with the cd-place the jewlery box and Serafina in front of the computer speaker and she will react to the game on the computer-not too many reactions, but she does react. Works well in the car too-just dont forget to bring the jewlery box and try not to stop short-otherwise you'll get a fat lip or get a black eye from the jewlery box flying towards you -I speak from experience.HAH!!
Being a cat person myself-I wanted the girls to have this even if we had not purchased the movie-very adorable and I love it when she asks you "Would you kiss my nose" and she kisses you back when you kiss her. I would recommend it-but as a previous reviewer had said "It is a battery vampire" for certain, but then again, what battery operated toys isn't? You will see your little girl smile from ear to ear with eyes wide open, when she first sees Serafina react to the cd or movie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money my daughter is very disappointed, November 18, 2004

My daughter just received this for her 5th birthday yesterday. She loves the movie and was very excited to open this (as I told her it was too expensive and Grandma got it for her). Anyway, we just went this morning to buy the required batteries. This does not interact with the movie as the commercial portrays. It comes with an audio CD that it barely if at all interacts with. The box must be within 6" of the speaker and the cat with a certain distance from that. It did not work at all although we followed all the directions. The biggest disappointment was the false portrayal that the cat works with the movie (we watch this movie several times a day and the movie is excellent). The cat does talk and move when the paw is pushed and she is happy with that but for the money, this is a complete waste and will be returned. She can get the stuffed wolfie and sarafina cats for $8.00 that she will be just as happy with
