4.0 out of 5 stars Barbie Horseriding
Great game...my six year old loves it. We thought that there would be more opportunities for two to play the game...you can only race together. Lots of fun areas for her to point and click and play games -- I give her about 6 months til total boredom.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better!
I was hoping to find a quality game for girls in the 7-10 year range but was disappointed in Barbie Race and Ride. Although the graphics were acceptable there was not a whole lot of different things to do. For example in the obstacle course, the horses reins have no effect on the direction the horse rides. It would be better if one could actually direct the horse on...

I was hoping to find a quality game for girls in the 7-10 year range but was disappointed in Barbie Race and Ride. Although the graphics were acceptable there was not a whole lot of different things to do. For example in the obstacle course, the horses reins have no effect on the direction the horse rides. It would be better if one could actually direct the horse on these 'trails' rather than simply moving the horses head. I wish someone would develop a quality, non-violent video game for girls in this age group.

We purchased the Play Station with the intent of having games for our boys and girls, but this was a big disappointment. Our daughters (ages 6 and 4) were bored with the game in less than 15 minutes. Now they play Driver and 007 and can just about beat their brothers. I'd love to see Barbie as a secret agent or trying to out-drive the bad-guys in her pink corvette...then I think you'd see the boys even wanting to play!

This game was awful. I was bored with it the day I got it. It's EXACTLY like the computer game Barbie Riding Club (which is MUCH cheaper) my younger sister doesnt even like this game its boring all you do is move the horse's head around and click to go over a jump then do boring point and click games. this is not what its cracked up to be

1.0 out of 5 stars worse than falling off a horse, November 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Barbie Race and Ride (Video Game)
I bought this game and the playstation with my own money. It's a good game, but once you win it, it's horrible! the only hard part is the firefly game. Even my pro cousin can't beat it. I traded it in for the Emperors New Groove game and was GLAD it was gone. Loading was horrible, too. I'd rather have a real horse or fall off my friends horse. Get marykateandashley's winners circle instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars What about the girls!, June 2, 2000

This game is somewhat of a dissapointment. We purchased it for our 6 yr old daughter in the hope that she could log some more time on the PSX. The problem is, she got bored with it right away (2 days!). You really can't do much with this game. She has mastered the point and click activities and easly moves the horse around (or as much as the program allows, which is very little). The only thing that saves the game is that it is Barbie, and my daughter loves Barbie.

When are they going to write some good software for young girls!

1.0 out of 5 stars Fun...If You Haven't Had Better, February 17, 2004
This review is from: Barbie Race and Ride (Video Game)
I bought this game 4 years ago (in grade three) as an alternative to an older favorite of mine, Barbie Riding Club (which I had outgrown) in the hopes that it would allow more freedom like riding off of the trail, stopping wherever you may please and competing in a more realistic fashion. Once I turned ten, I realized what a mistake it was.

Mattel obviously has no idea what girls who have the ability of playing video games want in them. We are forced to ride chunky, ugly horses with unrealistic animations (horses stretch their necks outwards when jumping rather than flinging them upwards. This makes the obstacle course very hard) in environments that look painted-on and thrown together. Barbie is constantly stopping your ride to make you watch squirrels hop across branches, and there are only two gates to choose from (canter and gallop) I wouldn't have such a problem with this if canter wasn't so slow; it slows down the surrounding area so it's just like riding in slow-mo. The firefly game was very difficult for me when I was young and it took me near forever to figure out that you just open the lid near the firefly and it flies in.

All in all, this game is one of the dusty ones in my collection. I would suggest Mary-Kate and Ashley's Winner's Circle for older girls, and Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue for younger ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Barbie- Finnaly Fat!!, February 21, 2006
A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Barbie Race and Ride (Video Game)
I have any horse game, even if it's barbie. But out of the 4 Barbie Horse games I own, including this one, Barbie looks fat!! The Horses are okay but their gaits arn't as realistic. I know. I ride have horses!Anyway, the firefly game was sorta hard and the stable is way too big and you don't get that much outfit slections for barbie. Trails are fun in the day but sort of scary at night. Overall, this game was great!

You can choose 4 Horses: Dapple Grey,Palimino,Paint,White and over 100 names! Each Game is Different.First you take a Riding Lesson then Decide on a Trail. You can race against the computer or a friend at the Beach or Woods. Then you can do the obstacle Course in the Meadow. I love when you jump! Great Game!
