She thinks it's great, but I think it's just okay. If the clothes get in the way of the Barbie's middle it doesn't work and then you have to re-adjust the clothes which happens quite often. I'm already tired of fixing it for my daughter and she only has this Barbie for 3 days. But I guess it's worth it, just to see her face when she plays with it.

I bought this Barbie for my daughter for Christmas 2001 amongst too many other things. But, this Barbie is the one that she keeps on playing with, especially in the evening when she really glows! I have to admit I really like her too! It didn't take my 5 year old long to figure out how to keep her arms raised to get the lights twirling. And, her matching blue dress also glows in the dark with the lights. Beautiful! And, lots of OOOOs and AAAHHHHHs from my daughter. All the reviews that complain about the twisting of the skirt and difficult to get the lights to twirl I'm puzzled over. We have no major trouble, and the light effect is so girly and sparkely. Also, she is a real pretty Barbie with her matching blue accents. Do not buy this Barbie though if you intend to undress her and turn her into something she is not. It would be difficult to get different clothes on her due to the light "skirt". Also, I bought her with a Barbie light-up unicorn (shown online here as a sort of matching set). Cute set, but this Barbie is hard to get to sit on the unicorn due to the light "skirt". Buy her for the light effect only! It is really worth it!

My 3 year old daughter begged for this for Christmas. I was hesitant to buy it because I thought it would sit around like all the other Barbies my daughters have, but I bought it anyway because she wanted it so badly. She was so excited to receive it Christmas day and played with it immediately. The skirt does get stuck sometimes causing the lights not to twirl around. This is more of a frustration for me because I have to fix it. My daughter doesn't seem to mind this. She has brought it in to her preschool several times and the other kids all want to play with it. When she brought it into her her sister's Kindergarten class the kids were fighting with each other to determine who could have the next turn (even the boys). All in all it was a worthwhile purchase.

My Daughter Loves It ... But I Don't,

This Barbie has a rotating belt with 3 wires extending out of it that have lights on the ends [Its sort of strange looking]. You press a button on Barbie's leg and the belt whirls and lights up. My 3 year old daughter has had this for a few days and thinks it is *great*. I, however, find it pretty annoying. The skirt she comes with is *constantly* getting in the way of the belt thing and keeps it from working. So, I have to try to readjust the skirt, only to have it back in the way a minute later and a frustrated kid on my hands. Also, this Barbie can't wear most of the other Barbie clothes because of the belt thing - she can only wear some two piece clothing sets. Since my daughter's greatest fun is taking the clothes on and off, this isn't so great either. I also have a feeling that this belt thing isn't going to work right for very long - it seems destined to malfunction to me. This Barbie IS pretty though, and the blue streaks in her hair are kind of cool too.

I gave this to my four year old daughter last Christmas, and she simply plays with this all the time. She has a strong intrest in fairies and angels, and so this was the perfect Barbie for her! She doesn't have any problem with getting the toy to work, and the lights to spin. Once or twice the lights stopped on the dress, but when I showed her how to do it, she's had no problems ever since. I gave this a 3 star educational value rating because it stimulated her creative side, as she makes up little stories about her fairy saving a child or flying around making others happy. I like to sit back and watch her play, and listen to the stories she makes up... they are just precious. I even videotaped her playing with this toy, so I could get one of her stories on tape... she didn't even know, she was so involved in her little imaginative story. The toy appears to be very durable, as she always leaves toys on the floor... no matter how many times we discuss picking up after ourselves! She has taken the wand and skirt off several times and we had to search for it through her toy box. All in all, this was well worth the money and an excellent toy!

I bought this barbie for my daughters birthday. I wasn't impressed. Having to reset the barbie to get it to spin was a pain. Also, I took all the clothes off and still couldn't get it to spin with new batteries. I ended up purchasing 2 and brought both of them back. I bought the snow white Barbie instead. That was bigger hit!

My 3 year old daughter really likes this doll, but the lights have stopped working after 2 months. They are not replaceable. Disappointing...

I bought this Barbie for our 4 1/2 year old daughter. I will admit, she is a beautiful Barbie, but there are problems w/ this Barbie. First off, you have to put the batteries in the carparments on the insdie of each thigh! (It takes 2 AAA) It is a little hard to undo the VERY small screw, get the battery(s) in & then re-screw it! The second problem we ran into was if her "skirt" is not put on just right, the lights won't spin! (The lights get caught up in the material.) We tried to teach our daughter not only to push the VERY small button to make the lights twirl, but to pull down on her skirt so they can spin. (Not that easy for a 4 1/2 year old!)Her crown & wand are not attached all that great either! (At night, I secretly crazy-glued both of them in place so she wouln't loose them AGAIN!) The lights themselves, are a very flimsy plastic that cannot be adjusted! (To keep them from getting hung up in her skirt.)A very beautiful Barbie, but I would wait until it comes down in price before I'd buy it!

I just would like to say that barbie is a piece of junk. The starlight fairy barbie does not have any educational value whatsoever and absolutely no fun factor either. It (starlight fairy barbie) is just another way for the Mattel co. to make money off of young children who THINK that they are getting a great toy, when what they are getting is a skydancer spinoff.... I DO NOT RECCOMMEND THIS TOY!!!

I can't figure out what the big deal is about lights that just spin and spin, but hey, I'm not 3 1/2 anymore, am I? My father actually bought this for my 3 1/2 year old (on my 2 year old's birthday) so she wouldn't feel left out.The doll really is pretty, as are her clothes and my girls love to spin her lights in the dark. We've had her for over a month and she's still taken out of the toybox regularly, by both girls. Initially, the skirt or her arms got in the way of the functionality of the belt, but after showing my 3 1/2 year old just what the problem was, she corrects it easily herself, simply by moving the arms up or by pulling the skir down. No frustrated kids here. My girls also LOVE brushing her hair and they've managed to keep the ponytail in tact. I do think I'll have to add one more star for educational value, because it was interesting to see my daughter notice the detalis and the blue 'theme' of the doll - blue streaks in her hair, blue eyes (which none of her other dolls have,) blue clothes etc. This doll's clothes have been very happily shared with several other Barbies and Kiras and so forth and she joins all the others for rides in the Barbie Jeep to the land of little girl make-believe. Oh, she also thanks her GrandDad for the doll EVERY single time she speaks to him, so I guess that makes it a hit in her book!
