5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Price
Last Christmas, my 6 year old daughter didn't put this item on her Christmas wish list. But, I would watch her play house with her Barbies day after day. I decided to go ahead and purchase it. If you are looking for a Barbie house that is durable, I would strongly advise you to check out another house. This house is very flimsy, cheaply made and not worth the money. It comes with extremely small pieces. It is very hard to operate for small hands (larger hands also). If you are like me you spend a lot of money with Barbie, this certainly does not deserve a penny. Barbie does offer another 3 decker house, very sturdy, very well built and a much better choice.

I think this dollhouse is cute and bought it for my 3-year-old daughter so she could have a fairly compact house for her Barbies. However, after one afternoon of play I could tell the second floor of this house might eventually break. My daughter and her friend kept leaning on the second floor with their hands and the support structure does NOT appear to be strong enough to handle much weight---it kept on creaking like the plastic was going to snap! Also, the second floor did not stay connected to the side of the house as the design intends. I returned the dollhouse immediately!

IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. Of all the toys she received last Christmas, she would play with this everyday - even after she got bored with her other top toys on her Christmas list. It takes a little long to set up (there are alot of stickers). What I like, as a parent, is that it is portable, light, and she is able to set up and put away without any help. It folds nicely for storage. I was so glad that I didn't buy one of the other bulky Barbie stand alone house or hotel. For the price, the Barbie Townhouse is worth it for hours of FUN!

After hearing some negative reveiws on this I was'nt sure if I should buy this well I finally decided to and boy am I glad that I did. My four year old daughter plays with if for hours at a time. As far as it for being durable I have had no problems with it. Like any toy if your rough with it yes it will break, if your gental it will be fine. In all it was a good investment.

The Barbie Talking Townhouse is awesome! My six-year-old sister got this dollhouse for Christmas from Santa and the entire household delights in playing with it! My Mary-Kate and Ashley dolls are usually the
inhabitants of this house, but they love it too! Even though it only says the name "Barbie," all eleven-and-a-half inch dolls can live in this talking
delight!

I got this for my daughter's 4th birthday. She was so excited when she saw it! We put batteries in it and were every unhappy after that moment. The reason we were unhappy is because it was a spanish speaking one. I guess Mattel didn't mark the boxes to tell you what language it spoke in.(how was I supposed to know since everything on the box and the instructions were all in english)I called the store where we bought it and they didn't have anymore since it is discontinued. I did get ahold of Mattel and they are taking care of it. So just beware if you come across one of these. Other than that my daughter loves it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Talking Townhouse should talk more, August 28, 2003

My 6 yr old daughter Lauren, got this for her b/day. Yes, she likes it and plays with it, but it doesn't say too much. The only places that it talks is at the front door, shower and kitchen. She used to have a dollhouse that said 3 to 4 different sayings in each room of the house, plus the doll figures said many different things as well. I would have bought that same dollhouse again but I don't think it is being made anymore. Anyhow, I would think about this one, it really doesn't do too much for the money. If the cost was only $35.00 then I could see it being worth the money, but not at its current price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could it have been made any cheaper?, December 16, 2002

This house folds up for easy storage but that causes its main flaw. Trying to maneuver a Barbie in this house is difficult. The couch back collapses, the bed jiggles all around. It is flimsy in design, it is like in order to make this house fold up it needed to be a very weak structure. My daughter just moved up from playing with "little people" dollhouses to a Barbie dollhouse and we are disappointed at how cheap the construction of this house is.

There was little assembly with this house. We just had to pop in some windows. Putting on the 40 stickers took the longest time and the diagram was lousy but it was no big deal.

Bottom Line: My daughter likes it, but I wish we spent the extra money and got the dream house.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the worst Barbie houses, November 29, 2003

My daughter got this last year for her birthday when she turned 4 and loves this toy. She still spends endless hours playing with it and I am glad that her grandparents decided to purchase this Barbie house for her as opposed to the other ones that were on the market. She loves to play with the shower (that talks) and set up all her Barbies and Kelly's in the living room for some food and conversation, while the kitchen talks to her as well. There is a table attached to the first floor that has a hard time actually being a table (it's rather flimsy) but my daughter makes due with this inadequacy. I like the fact that it folds up compactly and can be easily tucked into a corner of her room. I do recommend this toy, though, if your daughter is a Barbie fan...she will have a great time with it, even though its overall durability is somewhat questionable.
