This toy ranges in price from $80 to $95 at various Amazon retailers (a 50% to 90% premium over the white versions of this doll)! I don't know if the problem lies with retailers demanding a premium to allocate working capital and shelf space to African-American biased products, or if Mattel made very few of the African-American version of this toy and the price discrepancy is a result of a supply / demand imbalance. Nonetheless, it is unacceptable that there is such a discrepancy in the price of this toy in comparison to other versions. As a frequent Amazon shopper, I would like very much for Amazon to provide clarity on this pricing anomaly.

I agree, my daughter would love this doll for christmas but I refuse to spend $25 more for the African American doll. It is the same doll. Can someone please explain the price difference.

At first had a very hard time finding the African American doll, but eventually found it from seller on here for the same price as the Caucasian doll. Daughter is very pleased with it and it really records live video that we put up on Barbie.com.... It was well worth the money spent when I see how happy she is when she plays with it.

My daughter loves this doll. Mattel once again hit it out the box. I also want to give thanks to Amazon for restocking so fast. I was able to get it for a reasonable price compared to the price gouging of the other vendors.

I want to buy this doll, however I would like to know why the Black doll is $25 more than the White doll?

I got this doll for my niece for Christmas. I found this doll at Walmart for only $44.95. Look around people.

I agree...I don't understand the higher price. I was going to also buy, but wil not purchase at a descriminatory price.

I do not own one of these toys, but according to news headlines on 12/4/2010, the FBI is warning law agencies that the new Barbie Video Girl doll could be used as a tool by pedophiles to make child pornography. There's no proof that it has been used in this way so far, but it could be, so be aware.

Alright folks you can relax - the African American Barbie Video doll is $25 cheaper than caucasian version. Now caucasians everywhere can be angry about that!! Is this reverse discrimination!! No folks - this is what it means - Mattel doesn't manufacture as many of the African American Barbie dolls as they do the caucasian. There is more demand than supply for the African American than there is for the Caucasian. It's that simple. But right now Amazon has them in stock for $49.99 while the caucasian version is going for $90. So calling all complainers who reviewed here BUY IT NOW while it's cheaper and quit complaining!
