I've taken Barbie out to community art events. People interact with Barbie, and then are amazed to learn she's a video camera. The videos are not high res, and don't do well for night shots. The online Barbie software downloadable at their website is Windows only. But you don't have to have a Windows OS to edit the video clips--you can import the dolls clips into movie editing software you may already have.

In spite of the doll is really pretty this is not what I expected when I purchased the toy, when you make a video the images are not clear and when you download the video to watch it in the computer is too dark that you almost can't see what is the video about, such an expensive toy for bad quality.

I am writing this for my 9yr old daughter. As she continues to play with it all day long I'd say she has given this gift a thumbs up. She is really enjoying this.

Got this for our 8 year old granddaughter and she loved it. It took a few minutes to get the batteries in (one in each thigh, interesting) but once that was done she played with it nonstop. Recommend you have several extra batteries available, battery life is reasonable but it is so easy to use and such fun that it will be on for hours. Putting the batteries in is something an adult should probably do to prevent stripped screw heads. Reasonable price and if the video stops working it's still useable as a barbie doll. This was a good purchase.

I do not own one of these toys, but according to news headlines on 12/4/2010, the FBI is warning law agencies that the new Barbie Video Girl doll could be used as a tool by pedophiles to make child pornography. There's no proof that it has been used in this way so far, but it could be, so be aware. (While any video camera and most cell phones could be used for similar purposes, a parent would probably notice if such a device were placed in a child's bedroom or bathroom.)
