I ordered this product before reading the users' reviews and was quite upset (to say the least) when I saw them; I subsequently expected to receive a useless plastic gimmick that would go the way of most contemporary electronic toys after a day or two of use (fall apart, bore its user to death, etc) I was pleasantly surprised when the Barbie video camera finally arrived. It required almost no real assembly, plugged easily into the VCR/TV, and worked perfectly. No, it isn't a REAL video camera to take to the family reunion, but it's not intended to be... nor is it priced to be. It is, however, an excellent toy for kids who want to film themselves and have their 15 minutes of fame immortalized on VHS tape, which is the toy's whole purpose. There is nothing wrong with the way it works (black and white, close-ups only), but the buyer needs to realize that it is not supposed to replace or be an actual video camera.

We got this for our daughter at Christmas. She just loves it! It hasn't given us any problems and it picks up great reception thru most of our 2000 sq. ft. house....When they are using the camera, it does show in black and white on tv. But, if you record what your "shooting" on the vcr..when you watch the tape, it IS in color. The camera pics up sound but it also comes w/an extra microphone and tripod for doing interviews.. Which she's interviewed all her friends and the dog! Her friends all have a blast playing with it too. My daughter is 7 and it's a great, fun lil creative toy. You do have to use it in daylight or w/lights on as it doesn't have a light built in. The quality is good, but not great as an adult video camera...but this also for kids and not several hundred dollars. We're happy w/the purchase.

I bought this for my 6 year olds birthday. She was always wanting to use my camcorder which was to expensive to have as a childs play thing. During the party my tape jammed in my camecorder and we were able to finish filming the party using the Barbie camcorder. This is one of the best and most useful toys I have ever bought not only for my daughter but I enjoy playing with her and taking turns filming our tiny movies we make and now she can film right along beside me and I dont have to worry about her dropping my expensive camera.

I bought this for my 7 year old daughter, and she absolutely loves it! She thinks she is the newest movie star in Hollywood! She loves to tape herself singin or making a fashion show and watching it all over again right away. She had a slumber party the night of her birthday with her friends, and all night long it was the center of their entertainment. They made their own group music video and then a fashion show for the ages! It is also great for me because now I have a great rememberance of my daughter's birthday! What a fantastic idea!

This is the best of both worlds, a real video camera for a kid, fun, entertaining durable, great color picture.Learn to make music videos , commercials. Film youre friends and make movies,play them back . Do interviews with or without the sing along mike.

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter for her birthday. I can't tell you how impressed I am with this so-called toy. She always asks to use my video camera (which is the reason I bought this)but my expectations were very low. I was shocked at the distance she could go in our house. She went from room to room, upstairs, downstairs, even in closed rooms. Her and my 4 year old couldn't wait to open it and I had to fight them to get to bed. They couldn't stop. I even enjoyed it myself. Like I said, I was very impressed with its performance. I hightly recommend this camera to any child who enjoys seeing themselves on TV and also being the camerman.

I bought this for my 4 year old niece for Christmas. Although it was listed for older children, it was on the top of her list, so I got it. I visited today, and my niece and nephew (he's 7) couldn't wait to show me the videos they made and to make some more.

It's very easy to use, my sister plugs it in and hands it over to them, they watch themselves on tv while they tape, and they love it! Picture quality is great for a toy.

Looks like cheap plastic, but I can know they have banged it around quite a bit and it's fine.

We bought this for our 7 year old we had previously purchased a really bad kids video camera and took it back this is so easy to use and even though the picture quality is not 100% it is very good afterall it is a toy. If you just want to let your kids star in their own videos and have fun this is the camera to buy we all love it

GREAT!!! wow my 9 year old daughter wanted it so badlly i told her if she really wanted it we could get it for her for Christmas. I thought it would not work because we bought something like that before and it didnt work. When i went to go buy the item for her i thoght it was cheap! After she tried it out she brang all of her friends over and had a slumber party because it was so fun!!! I belivie every girl should have a great item like this!!!
