Barbie as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz

then you'll love this doll! My two girls ages 3 and 6 1/2 have watched The Wizard of Oz movie and were and still are enchanted by it. They thoroughly love this doll, so much so that Ihad to get two of them! Now they play Wizard of Oz together. I plan on getting the Glinda doll, but don't know when. The only prob. with it was with the hair ribbons, which my three year old lost one and I had to go to the fabric store and find a close match to replace it. The fact that the hair is stiff doesn't seem to worry my girls at all. I guess it's better than the frizz that you can get from other dolls.

In addition to Dorothy's ruby slippers lighting up, when you apply pressure, Dorothy says the following lines from the movie: "Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore" and "There's no place like home". When folks check out my doll collection, they always get a kick out of it!

Hi I hope my reveiw will be helpfull to you okay.... 1. the doll,Dorothy is made out of a srong plastic and has a normal barbie expression brown eyes and hair. Her hair is in the same style as Judy Garlands from the movie it is tied at the bottom with rubber bands wich are covered with blue bows.Her arms are bent at the elbow and is jointed at the shoulder her legs do not bend at the Knee and i'll explain why later.

2.the clothes,She is wearing the same blue and white dress as in the movie i compared the two and found no differances in them. she is wearing see-truogh socks and her famous Ruby Slippers wich are made out of rubber and are molded with glitter in them they also are identical to their movie counterparts.

3.the accsesories,Dorothy comes with her trusty dog Toto. Toto is in a realistic pose and is made out rubber. Dorothy also has her basket with her it looks real and is also like Toto made out of rubber and has a blue and white checkered cloth to put in the basket.

4.the special fetures,Dorothy has a button on her back wich when pressed makes her say "Toto I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore" and "Theres no place like home" both in a voice that sounds just like Dorothys and the same time she's speaking the Ruby Slippers light up acctually its Dorothys feet that light up just in case you lose the shoes.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this new version of Barbie as Dorothy out, as the first version by Mattel back in 1994 or so now goes for well over a hundred dollars easily on the collectors market. It's great to be able to finally get myself a Dorothy!

What is a very neat feature of this doll, but is not mentioned here, is that when you apply pressure, her Ruby Slippers light up, and I think it's charming.

At a price like this, I had no qualms about buying two, one to keep nice, and one to take out of the box and display.

DOROTHY IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL WITH HER DOG TOTO BY HER SIDE.I PURCHASE DOLLS FOR MY DAUGHTER AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE HER FACE CHRISTMAS MORNING.THE OTHER CHARACTERS ARE JUST AS WONDERFUL I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE.

We just love barbie as Dorothy! Living in Kansas we are proud of the Wizard of Oz and are big fans and collectors of it! We are glad to add this to our collection! My 5 year old just loves the light up shoes! great gift!

This has been a favorite for my 5 year old daughter. She has toted Dorthy around the world! The socks are not very well made I have to say. We have managed to save one shoe. I love the way her feet light up when she speaks. I was a little suprised that they did not put underwear on this doll or even painted on underwear for her. Toto is just as good as the doll itself!

My daughter's favorite Christmas gift! The Dorothy Doll talks and comes with Toto!

I think this doll and the others that go along with this series
are absolutely wonderful! I collect "The Wizard of Oz" things.
I was given this whole series of Barbie and Ken, Kelly and Tommy
Wizard of Oz dolls for a Christmas present a few years back from
family. I listened to the ones who talked, Dorothy and Glenda and
admired the detail of each one of them. My only regret was that there was no Wicked Witch for this series. (Hey, there is an idea for a future toy!!) I'm 39, and I am like a kid in a candy store when it comes to anything related to The Wizard of Oz!!!

Even though this doll is really a collector's item, you can have so much fun acting out the Wizard of Oz!
