Barbie as Wonder Woman Doll

This is a really fantastic doll, and possibly even the finest Wonder Woman figure ever made. It even surpasses the excellent 1960's Superqueen figure.

The figure is the usual quality of a collector level Barbie. She is wearing the modern Wonder Woman costume (not the Lynda Carter version), shown by the "WW" figure on her chest instead of the eagle emblem. The yellow areas of the costume have been replaced with gold, which looks great. The cape (a holdover from Lynda Carter publicity photos) adds a really nice touch and some much needed cover to Wonder Woman's costume. Like most Barbies, she is not very posable, and requires a stand to be upright.

What I really like is what she doesn't have. She doesn't have a broken back, with an enormous chest thrust forward. She doesn't have a square jaw and shoulders. She doesn't wear a thong. (If you think this sounds weird, you should take a look at most modern female action figures, including Wonder Woman.)

I think what makes her so great is that she is a female action figure designed with girls in mind. What a rare treat.

The whole appearance of Wonder Woman is very regal and majestic - very worthy of her Princess of Themysicra title. The outfit is well sewn together with the gold "W" emblem glued on the chest. The belt is loose, but held in place with a snap in the back. The golden lasso is sewn to the shorts while the other end is attached to the bracelet. The tiara and the silver bracelets are shiny and just adds so much to the whole demeanor. Wonder Woman is also true to the CBS television series as Lynda Carter wore tights with her uniform. The boots are made of cloth. The cape has two layers sewn together - the underside completely blue while the outer layer has the "stars and stripe" along the outer edge. I think the cape single handedly gives Wonder Woman a royal look than if she was just wearing the costume alone.

A word to the wise - take care when you remove the doll from the box. Wonder Woman's uniform is held up by an invisible strap as well as the cape being straped to her bracelets. You may accidentally tear the straps because you won't realize that the strings are looped through the straps in order to keep the doll firmly in place inside the box. It would explain why the Toys R Us photo has the outfit looking like it's about to fall off when I suspect the straps are broken in the photo.

Wonder Woman was a symbol of women's rights back in the 40's with her "You Can!" attitude. She has gone on to be a role model for women and men alike as she is truly the greatest superheroine ever - a title she's held for the past 60 years. I wanted a Wonder Woman doll ever since I was a little girl - believe me, she is well worth the wait!

My husband buys me Barbies for special occasions and he bought me this one as a surprise for Christmas. I loved her. She immediately took me back to some wonderful memories of my childhood.

I am a Wonder Woman fan, so of course when I saw this doll, I knew I just had to have it! She turned out to be great! There was only one minor problem with her, but I'll get to that in a minute. She looks great in her costume! Instead of the eagle on some original costumes (in the comics) of Wonder Woman, she has a "W" on her red top, which is connected to the blue with stars bottom, (so I guess it's more like a leotard type of thing.), which I think looks excactly like the real costume. She also has the gold belt, gold rope, (which she is holding), her ed boots with the white stripe, her gols headband, her blue cape with a red with stars and white bordered trim, and some very lightly tinted white tights. The only problem was her hair. I have had my Wonder Woman doll since Christmas 2001, and her hair is still kind of "flat", curly, but flat from how she was placed in her box. It has started to fall out a bit, and I'm pretty sure it will in a few more months. Believe me, this doll is definatly worth the money, because you will enjoy her so much in your collection!

I loved the doll so much, and I have always been a fan of wonder woman that I had to purchase the doll through e-bay. I didn't care how much it cost me, I just wanted it so bad. I've loved wonder woman since I was 5 years old.
wonder Woman has been my idol. The doll is so beautiful and colorful just like the orginal Linda Carter. She's filled with light and brightness, that you just need to touch her everytime you pass her. I recommend this doll to any collector out their. Is a greater start to the wonderful world of wonder woman....

The computer pictures fail to do this Barbie justice. I was extremely pleased when I received the first doll. I am ordering a second, as my three year old daughter will certain love the first one until it's quite worn. I can't help believe this doll with be a major collector's item as it hasn't received a lot of press from Mattel, is wonderfully done, and Wonder Woman's 60th anniversary is next year. Those of us who are Wonder Woman zealots must have this doll. It certainly is a much better image for young girls than any of the attempts Mattel has made to move Barbie from bimbo status to something more reflective of intelligent, independent women. The toy is well-boxed and largely accurate in its portrayal of Diana. Good show Mattel!

I bought this doll on KB Toy mark down special along with the Adams Family Set. Couldn't let it slip by even though (again) the box was really roughed up (by my standards, and they are HIGH!) She's very pretty and I really wish the box wasn't messed up but where would I be able to find this doll at the price($25.99) when I bought it way back when? Exactly! I'm still glad I got it but the rating I'd give MY own doll would be a 3/4 because of my box. Hope you buy a box that is way better than mine! Happy hunting.

I JUST LOVE IT. THE OTHER DOLLS LIKE PORCELAINS, OLD DOLLS and OTHER MEGOS SHOULD BOW DOWN TO THIS DOLL NOTHING BEATS THIS DOLL. IT IS WORTH IT....IF YOU FIND ONE GET IT...I THINK THIS DOLL APPRECIATES.

What can i say.....when i first saw her i was awestruck!!! i had
to go and purchase 2 of them. 1 to keep in the box and the other to put on display out of the box(naturally). This doll is
exquisite!! Mattel did a wonderful job on her. The quality is amazing!! I love the fact that they used the modern version of the costume which george perez( my all time favorite comic artist!!)created when the comic was revamped in 1987.the addition of the cape was also a nice touch. the only small complaint is that the stand is the one that grabs the doll around the waist..therefore wrinkling her costume and could possibly cause a tear if not care fully removed... i much prefer the other type of stand.( fortunatly i ad an extra stand at home and discarded the one that came with the doll). If you are a wonder woman fanatic(like me) then this doll will be a great addition to your collection!!

I must say that this doll is gorgeous. She looks like Linda Carter. I liker her durable stockings and shiny black hair. Her pretty comic book blue slanted eyes and rosy red lips make her beautiful. The outfit is just like the original t.v. show. A must have!
