5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent doll
People who believe a doll is bad need help. This doll is an educational toy for children to learn about "where babies come from" and not have to learn from friends or by mistakes. IT IS A DOLL - A TOY. Not an X-rated movie. I do not understand why people get so upset about a child's toy. Guns teach children to shoot each other but no one complains about them - but...

1.0 out of 5 stars Retro, anybody? And not in a good way...
The fact that this is "back by popular demand" makes me continue to seriously question peoples' judgment. Newsflash: women can grow up and lead incredible lives without living vicariously through children. But I appreciate the entertainment value; this product being a "good educational tool" gave me a good laugh!

I belive it is a wonderful educational doll and girls love to play Mommy with their dolls. What is wrong with that?

My 8 year old daughter absolutely loves this doll! I think its so great that they made a pregnant barbie..it's not like little girls have NEVER seen a pregnant person before, so when people think it's weird I think..are you serious??!! My daughter loves to play "getting ready for the baby" and "bringing baby home from hospital" It teaches her about being a mother someday herself. The only thing is she lost the baby the first time(it's so small) so I had to buy it twice.

This toy is great for teaching children about how babies are born! 100000 stars for educational! Unlike all the innapropriate, messed up barbies and bratz, this acually teaches something. I totally recomend this doll, especially if you have a young child and are going to have another one.

In my opinion, this is a wonderful way to teach a kid about Pregnancy and Babies! The entire Happy Family collection is a 'must' own, from the dollhouse to the dolls!

I have the grandma doll, a Midge doll and the house and i love them all!

Midge is dressed from head-to-toe in gorgeous outfits! I have to recomend this doll to you! It is a 'must' own for kids of all ages!!!

this doll is so much fun to play with. She can be pregnant, but you can remove her stomach for after she's had the baby. Midge (the mom) is very pretty, and the baby is so cute. My friend and i love to play with this doll. She is the perfect mother for a family. She doesn't look too young or too old. I'm 11 and I play with this all the time!!

I am 13 and i still love Barbies! When i was younger (maybe 8) my friend and i use to talk about how cool it would be if they made a pregant Barbie! And they did! When i saw this (2 or 3 years later) i was so excited! This Midge doll is pretty, with gorgeous red hair and pretty eyes! The baby is simply lovable! It must be a girl because of all the pink!(you even might get to name her!) I named her Veronica! I love Midges' outfit! This idea is terrific! Even though i am a teen ager in Middle School, i still love it!

I love that the pregnant Midge is back! The face is different than the Happy Family version and there are no freckles. I am just so happy to see her back. We got the Happy Family version and it really taught my 4 year old about the "facts of life" in a non threatening, age appropriate way. 10 stars for educational value! I did not see if this version still had the wedding ring painted on. There is also a nusery playset, but that one does not have the pregnant Midge.

I have wanted to purchase this doll for YEARS, and now that we have twin girls, I got to order TWO! Last time I checked, myself and all the other reviewers are here on this earth due to their very own MOTHER'S being pregnant. <GASP!> What has this world come to? All kids know a pregnant woman has a baby in their tummy. What is the big deal? I highly doubt that because of this doll, my 19 month old twins are going to be looking to get pregnant any time in the near future. This doll is a wonderfully educational tool and I wouldn't doubt it if my 4 year old son will want to play too. Yay Barbie! I will buy ALL the pregnant Barbie's you come out with!

...and I've been collecting and playing with Barbie and friends for 22 years! As a child, I would have loved to have had a doll like this. As it was, I had to have Midge or Barbie wear a bathing suit stuffed with tissue to get that pregnant look. Then, as all of Barbie's clothes are form-fitting, I had to ask my grandmother to make maternity clothes for her. (She thought it was cute that I did this.)

In spite of this, I am proud to say, I was never pregnant as a teenager and never had a child out of wedlock. My theory concerning this odd development is that teenage boys (the REAL contributors to teenage pregnacy) find girls who play with dolls to be a turn-off. (Maybe that's why grandma thought it was so cute? If I was playing with dolls, I wasn't going out and messing around with boys. Who knew?)

Lots of people have been griping about "moral values" concerning this doll. I think that's the most stupid thing I've ever heard of. Midge is a plastic doll, not a role model. But, since it's been started, I think I'll play along and point out that most barbie dolls are, in fact, unhealthy. Hey, they started it...

Ballerina Barbie makes a grueling, unrealistic and hard-to-attain profession look easy. (No one ever mentions with these dolls that real dancers must practice for hours every day. No days off! And Barbie's feet are still beautiful. You don't want to see a real ballerina's feet by the time they're 40.)Barbie as a movie star, rock star or super model glorifies shallow and potentially dangerous career choices. (In all of these, looks are everything. You don't need to be nice, as long as you're gorgeous. Sadly, real people don't stay skinny and perky like Barbie, so they often turn to painful plastic surgery that could go wrong to keep from getting wrinkles and develop anorexia/bulimia &/or do drugs to stay skinny.)

Now, let's take another look at Midge here. She portrays nothing more and nothing less than a loving wife and mother. But, isn't this mundane and demeaning to women? Mundane, maybe. Demeaning? Hardly. A wife and mother is the backbone of her family, something that every person in every culture can identify with. A wife and mother is the very foundation of all society (Remember that old saying?: The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world. It's true.) So why shouldn't a little girl be encouraged to play with a doll honoring such an esteemed profession?

Now that I've finished playing along with the political nuttiness that's been going on, I'll conclude by saying that this is a wonderful doll. For those who are concerned with educational values, she's an excellent tool for helping young children understand pregnancy. But most of all, she's just fun to play with.

I have this doll for my daughters' and they love it! Since we recently had another baby, it was great to see my daughters' enjoying their own Barbie who was having her own baby. It was really educational and fun to play with.

I am happy that Barbie came up with this concept - since pregnancy and birth are a part of life. There should be no shame in teaching our children about pregnancy. A doll that becomes a mother is great - since mothers are such a vital part of everyone's life and someday my daughter's will become mothers.

I doubt this doll teaches a child to have a baby as a teenager! My children only understand the concept of babies come from mommies tummies - not all the complicated social issues that adults may see. They see it as a beautiful and wonderful thing and this doll is a part of that!

Thank you Mattel!
