I got this guitar in black color. It worked out great for my 6 year old. He is crazy about his guitar and plays it all the time.

Here are the pro's:
- Right size and weight for a child
- Good sound
- Includes amp, cord and gig bag
- Decent price. I was on a limited budget

The con's:
- In the beginning it needed frequent tuning
- The amp is not very powerful


Overall, I am pretty happy with the purchase. It is a good guitar to test if your child is interested without breaking the bank. If he continues to play for a year, I will upgrade to a better guitar.

As with the above reviewer, my son had been looking forward to receiving this guitar for a while. His excitement turned into complete disappointment when upon connecting the amp to the guitar, smoke started to come out of the amp jack and we got an awful, burnt smell! I first connected a 9V adapter which the instructions said we needed, but was not included, then a 9V battery which got so hot that I had to remove it!
Luckily we were able to connect the guitar to a portable karaoke machine, so that satisfied him. The amp is no good, but the guitar is really nice looking.

My son was "psyched" when he opened this Christmas morning only to learn that we didn't have the proper converter for the amp. That was disappointing for both of us and I am now on a hunt to find both a new amp AND a converter. We blew the amp by using the wrong converter. Sad, sad day.

Long story short, I bought this guitar for my 2 year old, who was excited when it arrived. Unfortunately the amp didn't arrive with it. I didn't want to return the guitar, because my son would have been seriously PO'ed. So I contacted the seller (Austin Bazaar) directly and they sent me an amp ASAP. Great service. The guitar is great for this age level and I'm impressed with the quality. Great package for the price. The colored finish is pretty sweet too.

I am surprised by the good reviews. The fretts are very crudely constructed and the ends are sharp. Within the first minute, my son's guitar teacher said that he would likely cut his hands. Sure enough in his first lesson he cut his finger. This is really a very absurd defect. Also, the connection wire to the amp came apart after a week. Too much of a pain to find a box to return this. I bought this for my 8 year old son. It is actually quite a bit nicer than I expected for the price. It comes with everything you need for a kid to get started right away. The amp is battery powered with a 9 volt or you can purchase a DC adaptor to plug it in. The amp is not top quality, but for a beginner, it is just fine. My son LOVES this guitar and is excited to begin some lessons! I would recommend it as a first guitar for it's quality and price.

I have a son who will be turning 6 years old end of this month. So we got it for an early birthday present. His first guitar broke on accident a week before. We had him choose what he liked and ordered it. He's really into it, and the amp looks small, but does it's work. My son loves it, and I have no regrets.
