I bought these a few days ago to try out for $5 for (1) 11 oz bag at Costco. They are edible but not great. The slices are too thick IMO making some really hard, I have found ends and many slices with the core still in it. These are pretty bitter as well. I think I would enjoy the red ones a lot more but am not sure if Costco carries those. Still well worth $5 though considering a reg. bag of organic chips aren't much less... the price on here is pretty nuts though! :(

*****
These apple chips are tart, very crispy, and yummy! They don't have the processed or chemically taste that some dried apples have. They also are not soggy at all--I like my apple chips very crispy! They are 100% certified organic, baked with no added sugar, no preservatives or chemicals, no pesticides or herbicides, gluten free, and made from Washington State apples with five apples in every bag. These are a truly healthy and delicious snack.

These particular chips are only just barely sweet, mostly tart. If you want sweet apple chips, you can buy Fuji apple chips from the same company that are just as crisp and good. I like to mix both together for a sweet-tart combo.

I would also recommend buying these chips in smaller bags (the 2.6 ounce size) unless quite a few people are going to be eating these rather quickly. The reason is that exposure to moisture can render these crispy chips too soft. I like buying them in the smaller bags and then repackaging them in a resealable plastic bag to get rid of all of the extra air. Then I take out only what I plan to eat and quickly reseal the bag. My chips are always crispy this way.

Highly recommended.

I found these in a Whole Foods one day and thought they were fantastic, but they were also quite expensive. Amazon offers them in bulk packages for a bit less which is nice, though they're still on the costly side. The great thing about these is that they are baked, not fried. That means that there is no fat and very few calories, but they are still satisfyingly crunchy, making them a fantastic "got the munchies" snack. These are indeed cut from real apples and every once in a while you'll get a stem or some slices that are just peel, but for the most part the quality is quite good. My wife didn't seem to like them, though I'm not sure why - I think they're yummy. :) I'd certainly recommend them to anyone who can afford a somewhat pricey, but extremely healthy, snack. However I'd also suggest trying to find a small bag to try first at a local grocery (most likely an organic-focused one - I don't think Food Lion carries these) to make sure you like them before buying this much.

I bought this because I thought these were the same baked apples that were sold at Costco. It's is the same color and packaging. I WAS WRONG. The ones at Costco are "Vacaville" a company based in California

(1) Arrived in "brown paper bag" - except the color was silver. Nothing was shown. It look very cheaply packaged. Could not see what was in it. There was a label "granny smith apples"

However I gave it a try.

The first bag I opened (I ordered 2 (2 packs). The apples chips are very dark - seem liked they were over cooked or baked.

They are very crunchy. I'm not sure how the other 2 bags are as I have not opened them yet. I'm not sure if they are supposed to be so crunchy maybe because it is supposedly "Organic and gluten Free" If they are in a bowl, the apple chips have a sound very similar to poker chips.

The apples chips do have the taste of granny smith apples but that is the best I can say about the product.

I thought about 3 stars (because the apple chips do have the taste of granny smith apples) but decided on 2 stars because the fact is I was supposed to get a total of 4 (2 - 2 packs), however I only got a total of 3 packs. I emailed the Amazon to file a complaint.

These chips are yummy!. They are light and crisp and not made with oil - like some other brands. My entire family likes them and sometimes we snack on them instead of the worse stuff - potato or corn chips - when they just want a crunch.

Purchased these for my daughter. I have purchased these in much smaller bags at my local health food store. Much more convenient and economical to have the larger bag. My daughter absolutely loves these.

These ended up being a bit sweeter than expected even though there is no added sugar. (Granny Smiths tend to be a bit tart and these were pretty sweet.) The apples were mostly chewy with a crisp one here or there. Most of the pieces were large with an accumulation of small pieces in the bottom of the bag.

Like that they are organic with no added sweeteners. There is such a variety of uses for them - adding them to your yogurt, putting them in your homemade granola, baking with them, putting them in your cereal, in your oatmeal, trail mix, etc.

There was an occasional seed or hard core area here or there but not too many. There is a lot of peel/skin. Overall, if you're not able to get locally/seasonally from the market or don't want to make your own then this is an okay backup option to have on hand.

If they get closer to the expiration date they go from chewy to crisp, like apple chips. You can soften them again by putting them into hot oatmeal, or letting them sit in some yogurt - anything with moisture to help reconstitute them a bit. Or use them for baking!
