Just received mine two days after ordering it. Obviously, it's still available so disregard the previous review indicating that it was discontinued or sold out. Not the case! Speaking of which, it would have been nice if this tool included one. Even so, this is a nice addition to the Firestorm series. The unit seems well constructed with a metal guide plate. The jigsaw blades are easily changed with the quick-release style and three can be stored in the integrated case/holder. I'm a big fan of having one battery type for multiple tools and not having to deal with multiple chargers and formats. 18V seems to be quite adequate for most household jobs.

This is a must-have jigsaw to add to anyone's workshop. It cuts right through plywood and trims doors with ease. The convenience of no cords is a huge plus. I bought mine last summer and I love it. I have several 18V Black & Decker tools (including lawn care tools), and it's so cool not to need a different battery for each tool. You need to be aware that this tool does NOT come with a battery or charger. Those items are sold separately and can be purchased at most hardware stores and home improvement centers. If you already have batteries from owning other Black & Decker/Firestorm tools, then getting this saw is a no-brainer to add to your workshop. If I had to do it over again, I'd still buy Black & Decker and Firestorm.

I bought this jigsaw to replace the best little jigsaw, the Ryobi Hybrid Saw(discontinued), which sadly broke in the middle of a job. There is certainly no comparison between the two products.

My observations regarding this saw. I liked how it cut. It cut quick, it cut accurate. Sadly, I wasn't able to attach the vacuum connector to it since it didn't fit any of my vacuum's. I like the blade compartment on the side which holds three extra blades.

I do have a few issues with this saw though. The first is the safety. It's incredibly difficult to squeeze that and squeeze the trigger. Granted, they have the safety accesible on both sides which was a smart move. I have large hands, so it's odd that it was difficult.

Another complaint is the weight of this. This is a heavy unit, even without the battery!

And finally because of the weight and the trigger safety, it is really difficult to make precision cuts. That is, unless you have another person holding a vacuum for you. I used this to cut a circle in one piece of laminate flooring. Took me two pieces to get it acceptable, which is not an issue with that Ryobi. That's okay though, since I will put something over that to hide the access.

You simply can't beat the performance/price ratio of this product. It simply is a must have for those who use the 18 volt firestorm power pack. You will not be disapointed in this one... Great tool....

I used to hate Black and Decker stuff. I thought the quality and performance was generally poor. A while back I took a chance on their cordless hedge trimmer based on positive Amazon reviews and I love that tool. Since then I've bought 6 or 7 of the Firestorm type 18v B&D tools and I've yet to be disappointed. This jigsaw is no exception. It's easy to setup, well balanced, and cuts beautifully. The placement of the battery makes it easy to balance and stay level on your cut. There's also a vacuum attachement that fits on the side that sucks up the sawdust as you cut. I haven't tried this yet but if works even halfway decent that will be enough clarity on my cut line to keep it straight. The battery power lasts a long time too. I have made numerous cuts on a single charge with no noticable loss of power. Very highly recommended.
