This review is from: Bare-Tool Denali 565083 18V Cordless Laser Jig Saw (Tool Only, No Battery) (Tools & Home Improvement)
Until now I have been very disappointed with rechargeable tools - poor battery life, heavy and awkward to use or life of the tool is so short it is a waste of money, but this saw is different. It is heavy, but not nearly as heavy as the one it replaced. The instructions say a recharge should last about an hour, but I found it lasts almost two hours before needing a recharge. Cleans easily and is much quieter than others I've used, so much so I don't need ear plugs. (Safety glasses are a must with any power tool.) The battery recharges quickly too. If there is any problem it is with removing the battery from the saw - a large hand is needed to reach around both sides. I can manage but it is a bit awkward at times.
I had never even heard of the brand Denali before this, but I am certainly going to replace my old circular saw soon and new reciprical too. I recommend this tool for all the above reasons, and one more - For the price it performs better than ones costing three and four times as much.

Very nice saw. It has a dust pick-up that comes out of the rear of the unit. It's not compatable with the 1 1/4" vacuum and I asked amazon if an adaper was available. Evidently in this case they didn't think it was important enough to get back to me.

This jig saw runs about as good as my father in law's dewalt cordless jig. this isn't going to replace a seriouse woodworkers jigsaw, but it deffinalty does the job for a hobbiest or someone who wants a steal of a deal on good tools. i have the complete set of denali tools, and love each one, but love the pricetag even more!

I wonder whether this tool is "new" as most consumers understand the word. The seller assured me it is "new" and "unused", and that his company bought it from Amazon.
However, the tool bears a label that says "Made Sept 2005". I know it's meant to be there because the instruction pamphlet draws your attention to it. Also, there are some slight scuffs on the housing. Perhaps this item comes from a little cache of inventory previously lost or tied up in some financial snafu. Or, maybe it's a refurbish. Another hint is that the one I received was damaged. The footplate was bent in a way that's difficult to attribute to a vigorous UPS trip. Then again, it was packed very poorly in a flimsy box inserted into a USPS Priority box turned inside out, with no padding in either box. When I contacted seller in email, he immediately send another via USPS. Its footplate is fine. Moving on to the quality of the item itself. This is heavy. The battery doesn't slide smoothly into place well, especially the last 1/4 inch. You really have to push *hard*. Plus, the battery is so wide that it's difficult to grip the release pad on each side to unlock it. The chuck seem to works. So does the blade insert and quick release. The four orbital speeds also seem to work. I did my test cut on something tricky-- an industrial plastic bucket. The blade stayed in place. Had I not bought a matching drill, two batteries, and one battery charger (sadly all from different vendors), I would send this back. |
