Trucks??,
This review is from: Bare-Tool Hitachi WR18DLP4 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Impact Wrench (Tools & Home Improvement)
A very nice lil' tool. If you are using it for the lugs on your 4 x 4 truck----you are barking up the wrong tree!! This is a 18- volt cordless construction site tool, not a heavy duty pneumatic impact wrench like you find in the automotive industry, for crying out loud! If you are using it for the applications it is designed for, you will appreciate the addition to your quiver.....

Needed new tire for my truck and my friends truck got rear ended badly. I was able to swap the tires on both trucks with just one Li 3.0 AH battery. Worked when i needed it and worked like I expected it too.

Over the years I have owned many rechargable impact wrenches, this is by far the best by leaps and bounds. This is a replacement for my old one that was stolen. Highly recomend.

I have the full slew of Hitachi 18V Li cordless power tools and a dozen batteries, so another $120 for the stand-a-lone impact was extremely reasonable. The impact has respectable power in a very compact and light-weight package. We use the impact at the track for tire changes between runs with a torque-limiting socket. Everyone that has borrowed the tool has raved about the good power and extreme light weight. One battery typically lasts an entire day averaging 12-18 5-lug wheels. Build quality is excellent, the 1/2" drive lug and socket retainer pin is superb, and the body case is very durable. Two other teams have order the same impact with enthusiasm. In my opinion, the only impact with better quality and power is the Milwaukee M18, but it is priced much higher at $870. The Hitachi is an uncommon bargain in today's market. I'm confident that the Hitachi will return dependable service for a long time to come. Hitachi stands by their 10-year warranty too.

I wasn't expecting something with its torque measured in inch pounds to be anything more than something to run in long rusty or galled bolts. Those things that are too hard to turn out by hand and a ratchet takes for ever.Well I was pleasantly surprised when I used it to install a new set of wheels on my wife's car. I had previously installed the wheels with a breaker bar, not over tightening, but giving it a good deal of torque. I tried the impact, and nothing.. so I took off the nuts by hand with a breaker. Then when running the nuts back on using the impact to speed things up I realized it was on "wimpy" energy saving mode. I switched it to power and it took off and replaced the rest of the wheels with no problem torquing them to spec (barely with nothing left to give). Not a replacement for a bolt shattering pnumatic, but it'll run in lag bolts through wood all day. As a matter of fact I managed to "strip" an 8" lag bolt trying to tighten it into a couple pieces of wood. So much easier than using a ratchet, so much more powerful than using a drill/driver. I use it all the time now, instead of cranking ratchets through 4 inches of machine threaded bolt. I bought this one because I picked up a set of 18v Li-ion hitachi koki tools at costco a year ago. I've got a garage full of hitachi koki and find it that perfect level of price vs specs. I'm not a contractor, just a do-it-yourself-er and don't need a 300 dollar driver, but I do not settle for a black and decker either. When the $100 a piece dewalt nicads died on me from lack of use I went searching for Li-Ion and have been very happy with these tools that cost about the same for a set as a single contractor grade dewalt or Milwaukee would cost.

Still finding uses for this tool. Great addition to my Hitachi fleet. Wish I had this years ago.

I wanted this to remove lug nuts in auto applications. I was a little disappointed at first because it seemed weak. By the fourth wheel removed, the brushes seated and it was a completely different tool. It removed lugs in seconds and maked things a lot easier. It is good on batteries as well. It is surprisingly powerful for its size. I like that it is not bulky or heavy and quite portable.

I purchased the WR18DLP4 because I have a lithium-ion set of Hitachi tools and it seemed it would be a good addition. I tried it soon after receiving the tool and I was very disappointed with the torque. The specs. say 1950 in-lbs, which is 162.5 ft-lbs but I don't think it is any where close to that. I wanted it to take off lug nuts. I torque the lug nuts to 80 ft-lbs with a torque wrench and it would not take them off without running the Hitachi about 15 seconds. It had to work way too hard to remove the lug nuts. The tool itself was light and just doesn't seem heavy duty. I returned the Hitachi and purchased a Craftsman C3 19.2 volt impact that specs 200 ft-lbs and it takes lug nuts off with no effort at all. I think the Hitachi just wasn't designed for heavy duty use, like lug nuts.

I still think hitachi makes great tools, but this in particular only works in the highest speed. The dc-speed control switch only worked fine the first two weeks. I live abroad so it is difficult to me to return this tool for a replacement. At top speed it is difficult to control the torque with precision, bad for me :(

Not realizing and this is my fault both the Hitachi impact driver and impact wrench have the same power heads with the same speed and torque. I would think the impact wrench would have less speed and more torque for heavier jobs such as tire lug nuts.
