5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing drill, January 29, 2008
This review is from: Bare-Tool Milwaukee 0724-20 V28 28-Volt 1/2-Inch Lithium Ion Cordless Hammer/Driver Drill (No Battery) (Tools & Home Improvement)
I'm a commercial electrician and use this drill daily. Sometime for hours at a time. It has a ton of power. So much in fact it will darn near break your wrist if what you are drilling catches the bit and turns the drill when you least expect it. I'm constantly using large bore step bits to drill into steel j-boxes, door frames, etc. It's perfect. I have 3 other cordless drills and they stay at home. This is the only one I take to the job site with me every day. I'm so hard on this thing. I use it and use it hard. I have no clue what Consumer Reports could have possibly done to break it. I've used it so hard the drill body was too hot to rest your palm on and it didn't even smell. I've dropped it off a 10 foot step ladder onto concrete, picked it back up and used it the rest of the day. I've owned it 8 months and have put it through more than most people will in a lifetime and it's still going strong. I can't say enough about how extremely durable it is.

On the hammer setting it will drill 1/4" holes in block but that's about it, so don't expect much from the hammer setting if you have anything heavy-duty to drill. I use the Milwaukee 28v cordless SDS hammer drill for 99% of my hammer drilling anyway. (that drill is a superb hammer drill BTW)
As far as the other reviewers rating the drill down, READ THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION!. Under the caption "What's in the box", it says one hammer drill! That's it! READ next time you fools!

5.0 out of 5 stars if you understand what you get..., September 23, 2006
This review is from: Bare-Tool Milwaukee 0724-20 V28 28-Volt 1/2-Inch Lithium Ion Cordless Hammer/Driver Drill (No Battery) (Tools & Home Improvement)
this drill is perfect. as much power as almost any corded drill (not a hole shooter/hawg etc though). if you realize that this doesn't come iwth batteries then it can be perfect for you. if you already have a few kits and 6 batteries like i do sometiems having an extra drill is nice so you can have two (pre-drill and then drive?) the hammer drill is nice, but for anything big or a lot of holes use a rotary hammer, this thing will wear out and you don't want to wreck your drill!

Watch for the complainers out there, who think they've been ripped, jipped, etc. and take it out by giving this drill a bad review.

This is an awesome drill...with the quality assurance Milwaukee is famous for. Sure, some of the complaints may be legitimate, however, they do not detract from the performance and quality of this drill. The 28 volt, lithium ion battery lasts for hours of good use, and is quick to recharge. The keyless chuck is amazingly tight, even with the smallest drill bits, and very quick/easy to change between bits.

I will not go into all the details and finer points of this drill. The 5-year warranty, and other good reviews speak for itself. I also bought the work light that uses the same battery, (MLW49-24-0185 V28), and it is the most amazing light I have found. Just read the many great reviews for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Drill Rocks!, May 18, 2011

This review is from: Bare-Tool Milwaukee 0724-20 V28 28-Volt 1/2-Inch Lithium Ion Cordless Hammer/Driver Drill (No Battery) (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this drill back in May 2005 as part of a full 28V set. I had ordered as they were announced two months earlier. This drill can't be stopped I have used and abused it for about everything. It has been dropped, kicked, stepped on etc, the case is totally intact. As mentioned in other review this thing has torque and has the potential to do bad things to your wrist if you are not careful. The hammer setting is great. After six years now the batteries can drain about half after a week on the shelf but charge right up in no time and work quite well otherwise. I love the gas gauge -on- the battery! (Oh but no batteries included in this particular listing READ!) I think too the variable speed has diminished on my drill. Upon inspection the heat sink came off the transistor on my trigger control component. So kudos on the electronic design that if the transistor fails the drill still runs! The replacement part looks to be a new design so I doubt this would be an issue at all now, and frankly it works fine without the variable speed. The chuck works flawlessly, never has jammed or let loose. The ability to attach the battery two different positions is great for either clearance or balance, great feature! If you need a corded drill with out the cord this is your drill!

And how about this... Looks like the new M28 batteries, as well as the tools and chargers marked M28 are totally compatible with V28! Sweet!

This thing is a monster and will twist your wrist if you are not careful. I have two Milwaukee corded 1/2" drills and I can't rememebr the last time I used either one of them. Oh yes I can - I needed to drill a whole bunch of holes in concrete to sink some anchors in - so I broke out the corded hammer drill. Other than that this drill gets the nod for everything else. Great tool and I recommend it highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best brand, March 30, 2007
This review is from: Bare-Tool Milwaukee 0724-20 V28 28-Volt 1/2-Inch Lithium Ion Cordless Hammer/Driver Drill (No Battery) (Tools & Home Improvement)
Milwaukee is the best among all other so called industrial brands.

It has the best design, durability, and inter-changeable battery among other Milwaukee lines.

I originally found this to be a bit expensive, but gradually, I started to found the long term benefits of owning the best tools and I now would strongly recommend this brand and its tools to peers who are into DIY stuff.

Easy to use and power to spare.

I have a corded drills and a V28. I reach for the V28 all the time. Have not run into an instance that the V28 could not handle.
