5.0 out of 5 stars heavy hunk
I have a pneumatic one so I didn't really need this but when I stumbled across it on Amazon for 100 bucks cheaper then I've ever seen: $131+freeship, my tool buying reflex took over.

1.0 out of 5 stars 28 volt Milwaukee impact wrench
I was already warned about how heavy this impact wrench is by other reviewers. I was hoping for a wrench that really had a lot of torque. I was very disappointed when I compared it with my 18 volt Znex. The Milwaukee wouldn't loosen bolts even with a freshly charged battery that the Znex would. I sadly returned it and am still in search of a stronger cordless impact...

I have a pneumatic one so I didn't really need this but when I stumbled across it on Amazon for 100 bucks cheaper then I've ever seen: $131+freeship, my tool buying reflex took over.

It is big and really heavy compared to my pneumatic one but the convenience of complete portability is worth a lot. I quickly put it to work rotating the tires on my one-ton and though it took a couple seconds to break some lugs free, the work went quickly; no charging the compressor, uncoiling the hose or finding the pneumatic tool oil. 8 lugs per hub off and on all around only used 50% charge, though my right forearm was feeling the burn near the end. The charge rebounded to 75% later as these batteries tend to do.
I don't think I'll be bothering with the air compressor and hose anymore except to inflate tires.
*I see the product dimensions are junk; it's 12" long x 11.5" high wi. battery.
**Flat tire already, lucky me, but I also used it on the plastic hub protector lugs this time and the trigger control was excellent, no stripping.

Already having an air compressor and air impact wrench, it was tough to convince myself to get this. I talked myself into it by thinking about how nice it would be to have an impact wrench for junkyard hunting. Anyway, I have yet to test it out in a junkyard, but since I bought this tool, my air impact tools have not seen the light of day. It is heavy, but all I can say is WOW. This thing puts my IR231 to shame in both speed and power. I would recommend this to anyone who wants real power in a cordless impact gun.

The 28 volt Milwaukee cordless impact does all it's claimed to do and more.
I drive a race car, and this is a MUST HAVE for all racers.
It installs and removes even the most stubborn lug nuts.
The only down side is that it is pricy, but, very well worth the price!
This is one tool I would not want to be without!

5.0 out of 5 stars two words, heavy and powerful..., May 21, 2008
This review is from: Bare-Tool Milwaukee 0779-20 V28 28-Volt Lithium Ion 1/2-Inch Cordless Impact Wrench (No Battery) (Tools & Home Improvement)
I picked this up after doing a brake job on my car and having to take the wheels off two times (amateur job you would say). I already own the V28 hammer drill, SawzAll, circular saw, and flashlight. All of these are very impressive tools as well. This is no lightweight, sort-of-works wrench. I used it to take my wheels off again to work on my front brakes, and it will take off and put on a lug nut in a matter of seconds. Will it handle large truck lugs, don't know, but for my purpose, work on my cars, it's just what the Dr. ordered. I have no doubt that if I needed to drive a large lag bolt or loosen a rusted bolt, it would get the job done. My only complaint is about how the ring attaches, you have to remove two screws from the gearbox to put it on. But, if that's all I can find wrong, that's a good thing because I am sort of picky with my tools having been a former aircraft mechanic. This is just another in the extremely capable V28 tool line.

I previouly purchased the Milwaukee 28V combo kit and have been very impressed with it's performance. The addition of the cordless impact wrench is just the icing on the cake. The day I got it I was driving 3/4" lag bolts into fence posts. I really like the fact that it was offered without battery & charger, since I aready have these items from the combo kit. This was a great addition to my tool inventory.

Milwaukee makes a great line of cordless tools. The 28v is the ones to get though as the power is great and lasts longer. When the battery does die, it just dies, no slow motion kinda thing. Buying the drill and battery seperately, is more cost effective.
