Tool is great. Powerful, precise. A bit heavy (maybe that's a good thing to you, don't know, but worth noting).

Only decisive con, a minor one, is that the blades are hard for me to get in straight. A bit of finesse and I'm good to go though.
--------------------------------------------------------------

As for the batteries.... come on people, it's not rocket science. I'll break it down for you.

Don't buy an M18 tool if you expect it to take your V18, nicad, dewalt, AA, AAA, your digital camera battery, or other batteries. It won't. Milwaukee is very clear about this. After you decide to buy the M18 tool anyway because you still expect it to take non-M18 batteries, don't give it two stars because that plan didn't work out. M18 tools take M18 batteries. Get over it.

If that was too much to digest, don't even bother trying to read the next bit...

The XC M18 batteries work with all the tools. The COMPACT M18 batteries only work with the less powerful tools. That means your more powerful saws need the XC batteries. Milwaukee is clear about this.

So buy the M18 tools and the M18 XC batteries if you want all batteries to work with all tools. If you have an m18 tool that is less powerful and you want a lightweight option, get a compact battery for it, but don't expect it to power your jigsaw.

This is a GREAT tool. If you use a jig saw, you'd be hard pressed at this time to find a better option for all-around use. This is the one cordless saw that has COMPLETELY replaced my corded tool - I bought this over 2 yrs ago, and have not had to use my corded saw once since. It adjusts easily, has plenty of power for most tasks (including tight countertop cutouts), and has much better battery life than I was expecting. And speaking of batteries. . . there sure seem to be a lot people out there who can afford expensive tools without knowing what they're buying. This, like ALL the Milwaukee M18 tools, takes the M18 XC (bigger) battery. It WON'T take the compact battery that is designed only for the the low load tools in the series. I personally love this choice. I use the compact drill with the small battery for 90% of my tasks because it has enough power for most jobs, yet is small & light enough to ride in my tool bag with my other tools. If I know I have a bigger job at hand, I can use the longer life XC battery on the same tool or grab a bigger drill. How do you give a poor rating to a tool that you've NEVER used because YOU bought the wrong thing? Is that a rating of the tool, or the user?

After using this jig saw the first time, I gave my old trusty Craftsman 110v, that I'd had for 20 years, to my son. I've pretty much gone over to Milwaukee M18XC for all of my cordless tool needs. The jig saw is easy to use, very powerful, and accurate. The blades are simple to change, with no tool needed. My only very minor complaint is it is on the heavy side, which is no problem when using in the shop. I use the XC batteries exclusively, rather then the Milwaukee compacts. I don't think the jig saw will work with the compact battery. Overall a great saw and I would recommend it with no reservations.

This jig saw is pretty solid and hard working like a lot of other Milwaukee products that I have. But the other reviews that warn you that it doesn't track straight are right on the money. The blade is crooked and makes it almost impossible to cut a straight line, let alone anything fancy or fine. I figured that it might be only one or two with this problem, but mine has it too and I really don't know what to do about it. I don't want to buy another battery set to get a jig saw from another manufacturer, but this one is not useful. I shouldn't have purchased it.

Just bought this at the home depot for $129.99. After freaking out after inserting the blade and seeing a bunch of reviews stating these saws were machined incorrectly and weren't straight. I scoured the internet and stumbled upon a review stating that it requires significant force to pusb these in all the way to seat them correctly. I tried it and now it sits straight. I posted the correct and incorrect seatings. One clear sign it was in right is it pops free when you pull on the blade release when it was in right.

I've used this cordless jig saw several times now and it's just as powerful as my corded jigsaw. I haven't used it for any intricate cuts let so I can't comment yet on that but for straight cuts it's terrific. All the Milwaukee tools in the M18 line are really well-made and durable.

This is a great Saw I modified one of my lighter and smaller 18 volt batteries that Milwaukee will not let you install in there saw because it will not last long because off its small capacity,I cut a vanity sink countertop with it and made extra cuts to trim out the hole and still had 50% left in battery,If you buy this saw make sure you have Hi-capacity Batteries or it will not fit in saw unless you modify.

I've got to say this thing sucks. I'm giving it two stars because it works and it feels heavy and well built, unfortunately that's where the positive ends. Mine has the quick adjustable base that doesn't square itself very well. I have to use a square so it'll cut accurately. That I can deal , the thing I really dislike however is the fact the blade doesn't sit straight. If your cutting in a straight line you have to hold thing at an angle do it well continue to cut straight. So instead of pushing it straight, you push it side ways. It's better then a hand saw but only because your not hand sawing!
