When my Panasonic EY6432 1/2 inch drill needed repair, I purchased another identical one as a backup tool on Amazon. They offered me the Panasonic drill and flashlight as a package for a special price, so I bought it. I do a lot of attic work and it was getting pretty old holding a small LED flashlight in my mouth while I make wire connections.

The new Panasonic flashlight came and I immediately plugged in one of my drillmotor's 15.6v battery and turned on the light. Very bright, and a vertical swiveling head, and a carrying strap. One small negative: the head tilts down only about 30 degrees, so if you are trying to illuminate something down on a flat surface, you have to move the flashlight sideways about 2 feet. If you needed to illuminate down closer, then you should look into one of the "gooseneck" style work flashlights.

Within a week, the OEM lamp burned out, and when I unscrewed the lens to change the lamp, I found a pleasent surprise: a spare lamp inside the lamphead! Very nice touch. So I called around to various hardware stores and lamp/lightbulb stores, and nobody stocks this bulb. The bulb is an XPR16 bulb (15.6v, 10.9w) Miniature Flanged Xenon Bulb. You can find them at Bulbtronics.com or Microlamp.com, which had them in stock. I bought a box of 10 bulbs (min. qty) plus shipping = $24.50.

Because of the "down lighting" issue, I only rated it 4 stars. Otherwise it is a fine flashlight. It feels solid and heavy (because of the 15.6v rechargable battery) in your hand, and stands up stable by itself, you don't feel like it will fall over with a slight bump or jiggle.

4.0 out of 5 stars golden priced bulbs, March 8, 2007
This review is from: Bare-Tool Panasonic EY3795B 15-3/5-Volt Pivoting Head Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
This isn't a bad flash light & lots of my battery powered tools use the 15.6 battery. The problem is no one loacally (eastern us)stocks bulbs & on the net they cost more than the price of the unit its self, well all most.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Old Style, February 1, 2007
This review is from: Bare-Tool Panasonic EY3795B 15-3/5-Volt Pivoting Head Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
The pluses: a flashlight

The minuses: Can't swivel it left or right, has very limited up and down positions, in fact can't be positioned downward at all. Lacks ability to focus beam. Very limited utility. Like a flashlight of the forties. Very clumsy and not clever in its design!

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I just received this item. The pluses: nicely designed flashlight and can serve as convenient emergency light (as long as you keep your batteries charged), even has extra bulb built in. The minuses: lacks ability to focus beam and can pinch finger when pivoting head downward. For this price, I would have hoped that it would have had the ability to focus which is in virtually all quality flashlights.

UPDATED INFORMATION - My second light bulb failed (because I dropped the flashlight). I had no idea how difficult it was to find the bulbs and at what cost. The bulb is a 15.6 volt 0.7 amp xenon bulb. Panasonic parts sells the bulb for $7.31 plus shipping, which is ridiculous. According to another website, the bulb is rated for only 15 hours life. I was finally able to find the bulb for under $3.00 plus shipping.

I am dropping my rating from 4 starts to 2 stars.

Item is of good quality, however design is slightly awkward. Durable and very bright. Adjustable beam/focus does not seem to work very well. Overall, Item is a little overpriced for what you get.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but too expensive and can't find bulbs!, November 16, 2007

This is an ok item, certainly not worth $40.00. It lacks the ability to focus the beam. Replacement bulbs are impossible to find.

I purchased this on a special offer and do use it frequently. I'd buy another one for $15.00, but any more than that I would put my money into something better, with easy to find replacement bulbs.

I like the head adjustment feature and the fact that it stands very stably on the battery base. Light is quite diffused and covers a wide area. Center of beam is concentrated and lights primary subject well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Flashlight!!!!!!, January 6, 2009

We got this as a bonus to the (best drill I have ever owned) Panasonic EY6432GQKW. The flashlight has turned out to be irreplaceable. Because the battery holds a charge for a very long time, shares with the drill, and there are two batteries, we are very rarely without a backup flashlight. We had an extended power outage last summer and it was used constantly. The kids love it at campfires, and the pivoting head is very convenient. Because the weight and location of the battery, the flashlight is always upright and acts as a lamp.
