Marine Coral Calcium worked for me...........,
By Kenneth W. Gust (Gladwin, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Barefoot on Coral Calcium: "An Elixir of Life" Health Secrets of the Coral of Okinawa (Paperback)
This book is well worth buying...I had a 2 year condition with my knee that at times I could not crawl off my sofa and ended up using a walker....it was extremely painful and exhausting. Mr. Barefoot is right on as far as I am concerned because I took his advise and bought some and took it the same night at 9pm and by 3am the next morning I was running and jumping....something I could not do for nearly two years...this is no exageration...I would not believe it myself if I had not gone through it......Perhaps those of you who have used Coral Calcium have not used the real McCoy....whenever there is a product out there that really works there are those who try to imitate it but fail to get the same quality.....also there may be other factors to consider for your condition.....perhaps the toxins in your system are at a higher level and need to be expelled.....perhaps unforgiveness or stress....there are physical and spiritual reasons for folks getting sick...I refused surgery and the typical drugs for my condition because of the side effects and asked God to give me wisdom and he led me to Marine Coral Calcium......Just because the coral calcium did not work for you why should those of us it does work for suffer because you would like it taken off the shelf.....because what Marine Coral Calcium has done for me I tell everyone and many of my family members are taking it including my 72 year old mother.....since she has taken it, she has lowered her blood pressure as well as helping her with her energy and moods....so please folks refrain from trying to take this great product from those of us it does help......thank you....CL Gust

I've applied calcium to my diet and I'm looking forward to living a long, cancer-free life. As with anything, read for yourself and make your judgement. I do recommend picking up this book not only to understand the benefits of taking "proper" calcium suppliments, but to become aware of the pharmacudical companies who may not have YOUR best interests in mind. If something like natural vitamins and minerals cannot be pattened, you can't monopolize the produt and make huge money doing it. I strongly believe that the way the harsh reviews below are written, they sound like "Pharmecudical Big-Brother" politics driving you away from natural vitamins and into chemical dependancies. Don't be too influenced by reviews...even this one, decide for yourself. ...

You can't argue with results,

I can only assume that Harlow from mid-michigan has never actually tried coral calcium, if he\she had they would not make such ridiculous statements or perhaps he\she is a doctor or pharmaceutical rep and is afraid of losing business. You do a disservice to anyone who has tried this stuff and found that it DOES work and an even bigger disservice to people who won't try it because of reveiws like yours. People don't need the naysayers' advice, just try it, if you don't see results, then stop using it.

I read this book about three years ago, and it confirmed something I had already found out. Marine coral calcium is one of the most underrated supplements on the market. Barefoot has a rather fast-paced narrative style of writing for a biochemist, so that made it an easier read for me. I still don't understand all of the chemistry behind what calcium does when it breaks down in the body. I just know, that for me, and the many friends and family to whom I recommend it, there are many immediate, dramatic, and extraordinary results. I know all of the history behind the huge battle between Bob Barefoot and the FTC, and the spillover, which involved Kevin Trudeau, who wrote his smashing bestseller, Natural Cures. I am not here to take sides, just to review a book. This book has delivered because I took its advice, and have more energy, less pain, and feel healthier than ever before. My mother swears by Barefoot coral calcium. My friend, who is diabetic, believes it has helped with the symptoms of his disease. I know a man who believes it saved his life (He had cancer). My brother uses it for back pain, and it provides him with instant relief. That's remarkable because, usually, he doesn't take supplements of any kind, and has trouble even admitting that he has pain. My wife, who is also phobic, when it comes to supplements, sneaks them when I am not looking. She uses the coral as a PMS reliever, and to boost her immune system. For me, the coral also helps me sleep better. I always feel more tired, if I don't take them before bed. If you are suffering from any disease, ailment, or pain, major, moderate, or minor, give this miraculous mineral a chance! Don't ever use coral calcium, or any supplement, or drug, in place of medical care, and a doctor's guidance, but I am not kidding when I say that there is something to this stuff. It flat-out works!!!

Very interesting read. It brings to mind that quality products are worth the price. Investing in trustworthy products such as "Standard Process" will
relieve one's anxiety about tainted calcium. No, I have no financial stake in SP. I simply purchase them from my health care provider. Also, "The New Biology" presented by Dr. Robert Young explains why calcifications in organs and tissues are present. They are not the cause of disease, tumors, etc. Calcium is simply present to try to protect and preserve the body by buffering acids with the alkalinity of calcium - often pulled from bones if not readily available in our diet. Dr. Young's work is coming to the front and books such as this only reconfirm my convictions.

Whatever Barefoot is selling, it is not good health. He seems to have the hype down to a marketing science -- as his credentials and source information seems credible. His commercials plugging his product also plugs into our "remarkable" button and causes us to assume that our ailments can be cured in days if not two weeks of using his product. Three months later, the only thing I have to show for [price] spent is six empty pill bottles. Where are the regulatory agencies at? Why aren't they protecting consumers from this blatant nonsense? It's bad enough being ill -- being preyed upon by charlatans is the worst indignity -- after being victimized by every charlatan MD that takes money but never helps. I'm contacting whatever Federal agencies I can to voice a complaint -- as if that will do any good. In the meantime, anyone reading this, I have every ailment that Barefoot details in his commercials and his books -- and I referred back to his book and his commercials to ensure I was understanding his assertions correctly. I was. His product -- in my experience -- simply does not deliver.

Big talker isn't so big afterall,
By Marcus T. Brody (Tampa Bay, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Barefoot on Coral Calcium: "An Elixir of Life" Health Secrets of the Coral of Okinawa (Paperback)
If you've listened to his Coral Calcium cassette tapes, and read his Calcium Factor book, you know Bob Barefoot says Calcium is a cure all for any disease or ailment in the body. I expected this book to go into detail about Coral Calcium, and how it can do all he said it can do in those lectures he did. Well, Bob chickened out on this one. He got a good publisher, and got the Vitamin Shoppe, and all other kinds of retail stores to carry his books and formulas, but he's a coward. Here's why.. Barefoot went from preaching "Calcium cures Cancer", "Animal fat reduces the risk of breast cancer 1000%", and a few other crazy comments to, "Calcium protects from colon cancer and osteoporosis", and "a vegetarian diet is the best choice for optimal health". Not one word in the book about how Calcium cures cancer every time. Not one word about any of the wild claims he's made in the past, like how we should take in toxic amounts of Vitamin D. Barefoot sold out, baby! And he's richer than ever!

Another Quack,
By LT (Michigan, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Barefoot on Coral Calcium: "An Elixir of Life" Health Secrets of the Coral of Okinawa (Paperback)
I'd give this book zero stars if i could. At the very least, the content included in the marketing of this product is exaggerated and irresponsible.
Coral calcium, which is mined from coral reefs below sea level, is barely regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Research has shown considerable dangers of using mined sources of calcium because they may contain harmful amounts of heavy metals such as lead, mercury and cadmium. These are substances that have polluted this type of environment as a result of volcanoes spewing their molten lava and ash-full of poisonous heavy metals into the environment for thousands of years. This is no secret. Even the marketers of coral calcium products usually acknowledge this. They acknowledge for instance that there is a high content of aluminum in the product, but since labeling the content as 'aluminum' could potentially drive consumers away, they instead use a specific chemical name on the label (montmorillonite), which in fact is colloidal aluminum silicate. This contamination issue has been addressed in numerous studies looking at commercial calcium supplements. In one study, the lead content of 136 brands of calcium supplements was examined. The calcium in the supplements was either derived from natural sources, like coral calcium, or refined (purified). The results: Two-thirds of calcium supplements failed to meet the acceptable lead levels in consumer products. The products most likely to contain lead were the natural forms, while the products most likely not to contain lead were refined products like calcium citrate or refined calcium carbonate. The results from this study are consistent with others of similar nature. Obviously, elevated lead levels in the body are cause for alarm because over time, they could cause digestive problems, kidney damage, nerve disorders and muscle and joint pain. Two more quick points. There is concern that coral calcium could trigger dangerous reactions -- such as hives, breathing difficulties or swelling -- in people with allergies to shellfish because coral reefs are often home to such organisms. And, even if you know someone that swears by coral calcium, the truth of the matter is that you really can't make an objective decision based on one personal experience or other anecdotal evidence. Statistically, they are not anywhere near as significant as the studies available. Do yourself a favor and don't buy into this non-sense. |
