If you never buy another CD...,

You have to have this one. Well maybe this one and Mozart's Money, but Barehanded is a must. Nobody makes social commentary as scathingly comical as this guy does. If this music doesn't make you stop and think, your brain cells have been depleted. "Thread City" is probably the best song on here, followed closely by "Carrie." If you aren't a Hugh fan, buy this and I'm sure you will be!

This is a very talented musician. Take a listen to 'Hugh's 30th Birthday Party' - simple but active and delightful music, worth buying the CD even if you never listen to another track.

Hugh is a great poet and a talented musician. The album features a range of songs, social commentary to ballads, all with Hugh's unique perception of people and events. "Hugh's 30th Birthday Party" is particularly haunting and effective. This is a wonderful album, that I appreciate more after each hearing.

I was first introduced to Hugh at a live show, and was compelled to purchase this CD on the strength of the live performance. His work is original, intellectual, and it stays with you long after each listen. The CD gets better with each foray, and I recommend it very highly. His work covers an eclectic range of issues, and listening to this album in its entirety takes one through a great range of emotions. My favorite song on the album is "Hugh's 30th Birthday," a beautiful, profound song addressing the complex issue of growing up and older and leaving our past behind. I have purchased all of his other albums based on liking this one so much, and I have not been disappointed.
