THE versatile, summerweight bra!, April 22, 2009
This review is from: Barelythere Women's Microfiber Crop Top #103 (Apparel)
I'm a woman who HATES to wear bras. Unfortunately, I also like to wear next to nothing in summer. Temperatures where I live can be over 100 degrees. And some t-shirts just can't be worn without bras outside the house. Enter the Barely there model #103. I've tried countless cotton bras, sports bras, etc., and they are all very heavy material and elastic, suffocating me. But this is just one very, very light layer of fabric (on the minus side, not the bra to wear if you have prominent, always-erect nipples) and although it's synthetic, it breathes like cotton and is really the next best thing to going bare.
Notes:
1. My observations are on the white colour. I've just ordered the bra in black. I know from experience that black dye can sometimes cause fabric to be less stretchy and stiffer, so will keep you posted.
2. I'm a plus size woman who takes a 24W, and the Large is a little small on me, while the X-large is perfect. However, this is not to say that it runs large, just that it stretches really really well.
3. Eveningwear solution: I once wore this bra under a modest evening dress and stuffed a strapless padded-cup bra inside it without hooking it closed at the back. Wow. Comfort and style. Looked great and felt as comfy as pajamas all night long.
4. Strapless bra solution: Invert the bra so the bottom band is above your breasts and tuck the straps underneath. Voila - instant strapless look.
5. All that said - if you have big, bouncy breasts and plan to spend the evening at a disco, do yourself a favour and get something with a bit more support. Although I have worn it to dances, it's not the best for a 250-pound woman with 38DDs jumping up and down. Great for everyday wear, though, I wear it under all my clothes.
6. You don't need me to tell you this, but fo course this bra does nothing for your silhouette. It just prevents your bits from rotating and bouncing. If you want a built-up or pointy look, you want another bra, or else see solution #3 above.

If you're larger than a B-cup you're not going to want this, April 9, 2010
This review is from: Barelythere Women's Microfiber Crop Top #103 (Apparel)
To start, beware the colors in the photos. I ordered "Rosewood" but what I received looks less like a pink and more like a taupe. I was tempted to return it but one of the tags fell off while I was removing it from the plastic packaging. Intending to make lemonade from lemons, I tried it on. Barely there? They got that part right. I was looking for something that is comfy enough to sleep in, yet offers a little support. Yes to the first part, and a giant NO to the second. The top has the seems and gathers that give the appearance of support, but the material is so stretchy (like cheap pantyhose) it's like wearing nothing. For us big-breasted ladies, that's not a good thing.
I should have checked the negative reviews more closely - many C+ cup-size shoppers have already given this top the thumbs down. I echo the sentiment. If you've got small, perky breasts or custom ordered ones, you'll find this top very comfortable. If you're naturally of the Jessica Rabbit persuasion, avoid this top like the plague.

comfortable but doesn't provide enough support, July 30, 2008

this is the most comfortable bra i have ever worn but it lacks support. it's on the flimsy side, too. good for wearing inside the house but definitely not for work or the gym.
