More About the Author

In 1998 Marsha created the first edition of eBay For Dummies, then, followed up the success of the first book with a second book targeting individuals interested in making e-commerce their full time profession, Starting an eBay Business For Dummies. That book became an instant nationwide hit, making several notable Best Seller lists. Since then, Marsha has updated each of her books and published many more.

Marsha Collier's name crops up a lot in the same breath as e-commerce and customer service. No surprise there. She's the author of eBay For Dummies, eBay Business All-In-One Desk Reference for Dummies plus many other related, best-selling titles. She's sold over a million books and been on the Business Week Best Seller list and has published more than 35 books in the Wiley "For Dummies" series. (List of books in print below).

Her latest books, 'Social Media Commerce For Dummies' and 'The Ultimate Online Customer Service Guide: How to Connect with your Customers to Sell More' gives businesses insight into how to use Social Media to build customer relations and bottom line.

Her e-commerce advice has appeared in publications such as Martha Stewart Living and Reader's Digest, and don't be surprised if you've seen her on television - as a guest on The View or the Today Show and in her own PBS special, Making Your Fortune Online.

She is a popular keynote speaker, inspiring online sellers to success, the lead instructor at eBay University, speaks at conferences worldwide, and runs a successful online business - so is she an internet fanatic? 5.0 out of 5 stars I thought I was an expert - what a fun book! June 19, 2003
By A Customer
This book gave me tons of new ideas about how to shop on ebay. I didn't know that I could buy such interesting items - Pizza? It's written in an easy to read style, and I actually laughed out loud while I was reading it. Some of the stuff I knew, but I really learned a lot about the different areas of ebay that I hadn't visited before. I also found some new ideas on how to get deals. It's a fun book at a great price, I'm giving it as a holiday gift to all my friends who are always asking me about ebay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Start! March 21, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book gives you a lot of imformation on buying on Ebay, and the do's and don'ts of what to do on Ebay, like paying for your item, bidding, feedback, etc. If you are new to Ebay buying or want to sell something, this is a good starter book to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Book! June 17, 2003
By A Customer
This book is different that a lot of the other eBay stuff available. It's more like a value guide. There's a lot of insight into finding cheap prices and bidding to keep prices low in here. I especially like the insight on finding travel bargains and cheap business wear, two of my favorite things to buy on eBay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great idea! June 13, 2003
I've been shopping on eBay (as well as Amazon :-) for years. But my mother and mother-in-law are both novices. They're always bugging me with, "What's this eBay thing? What can I get on there? My friend completed her discontinued china set on eBay.." All with the gist of "How can I do this too." As soon as I saw this book was coming out, I picked up two copies of it (mother in laws are rarely great sharers) and gave it to them. Finally! They get what eBay is all about. They know how to set up their user accounts, how the "store" is laid out, how to uncover the best deals and, most importantly for them, how to stay safe when buying on eBay. Now, they're ready to get off and running. In fact, they picked up so much great information, they even taught me a few things (no more staying up late waiting for an auction to end in order to swoop in with the best bid!) This book is great! It's an easy read, and you can jump around to find the points that are most relevant to you. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to become an eBay power shopper.
