5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!
I don't usually read the historial romance novels until some friends and a sister-in-law got me started. This was one of the first I read and I LOVED IT!!! (They've gotten me hooked!) It's a very sweet story and it's funny how stubborn some people can be. It's definately a book I'd like to pick up and read later on as well. I can't wait to read some of her other books...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Beach Read....
while not my favorate book by Ms Ray, it was a good quick read. This is what I like to call "a beach book" - while predictable at times its got all the elements for a romance novel - strong characters, steamy loves scenes, and quick writing style. Personally, I'd reccomend Ms ray's INCOGNITO, but still, it's worth taking to the beach.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice try Ms. Ray but no cigar..., June 15, 2000

This review is from: The Bargain (Zebra Historical Romance) (Paperback)
I bought this book because it was written by Ms. Ray. All her books in the past have been great, however, this book fell way short. I do respect Ms. Ray with her attempt to write about other cultures set in different time periods. That is very tough and she made a good attemp. However this book was horrible and too predictable. Also, the main characters were all just a bit over the top. Stick with what you know Ms. Ray thats what your good at....

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a good book, July 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Bargain (Zebra Historical Romance) (Paperback)
This is my first time writing a book review. I have read all of the books I could get my hands on by Francis Ray. I enjoy her writing style. The Bargain was great. I couldn't put the book down after I started reading it. I enjoyed the book so much I gave it to my girlfriend and she said thesame thing. We often share books and discuss the book after we have read them. The characters were far from predictable and they held my interest. Keep up the good work....

4.0 out of 5 stars The Bargain - A Well Sealed Agreement, July 10, 2000

I truly enjoyed reading The Bargain. I love reading all types of books and I felt this book was one on the top of my list. I thought the characters were great together -- the strong- willed Alexandria and the dashing Thorne. They were made for each other even though both tried to deny their true feelings. The plot was great. I have read other books by Ms. Ray that are wonderful also. I would like to see a sequel to The Bargain with a storyline involving Thorne's sister, Judith, and perhaps The Shadow or Lord Stonewell. I think Judith showed courage and will not let her handicap hinder her from finding true love. Judith is a character by herself and deserves her own story! Please keep this in mind, Ms. Ray. Again, all of your books are great and I look forward to reading more of your books.

The Bargain is the romance of Alexander, and Thorne. Alex is a tomboy who is use to doing what she want. Thorne is use to women acting like women and not questioning everything he say. I throught Francis Ray did a great job writing a historical novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bargain, October 29, 2009

This is a wonderful book and one that I have reread many times for the joy it has brought me. The heroine is both fiesty and compassionate. The hero is not sure what to make of her, but he is definitely attracted. It has both intrigue and danger lurking in the background.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original, November 13, 2007
This review is from: The Bargain (Zebra Historical Romance) (Paperback)
I have to say that I read the Bargin when it was first published. I appreciated the way that she did not get into the race of the characters. She spoke of them as we all should as if they were not a race, but people (which we all are). If one did not know the period they would not know the race of the characters. The original book has no characters on the cover. I thought that she did this with such taste. I was and continue to be a big fan of Mrs. Rays. Keep up the good work Francis.
