Connects my old Nokia 6820 to my laptop. Just be aware that it emulates a COM port thru USB. Make sure you have the COM port set correctly in the Nokia PC Suite to match the virtual COM port assigned by the driver. This you can check in the Device Settings in the Control Panel. I need to set the COM port to COM16 every time I plug in the cable.

In short, the product works - as long as you are willing to put in a bit of effort. For the price, good value. And it saves me from having to turn on the bluetooth - which is slower and drains the battery faster.

I bought this for my phone to save my photos to computer. It works well. And also easy to install and use. I am happy with it.

I have a 6102i and installed both the drivers for the cable and Nokia's software on XP computer. The software saw the cable when it was attached but never saw the phone. I tried to find updated drivers, but no luck. I called the store, who shipped a new cable. Same problem. Tried to uninstall drivers and use only Nokia's software. Still not luck. After having the phone tested, I've concluded the cable/driver is the problem. Guess you get what you pay for.

This item did exactly half of what I wanted on my laptop - allowed me to connect my computer with my old Nokia phones. This allows me to edit and backup contacts (3588i, 3589i, 6610) and to send and backup SMS (6610).

One part which does not work is Plug and Play. Each time I plug the cable into the computer I need to tell Nokia PC Suite to look on COM9.

Because Plug and Play doesn't happen what does not seem to work at all is the Modem functionality. I have plugged in 3 different phones with Modems (3588i, 3589i, 6610) and in no case did the Connectivity Cable Driver add the appropriate devices to Device Manager. Without those devices the phone cannot act as a modem for your laptop.

It should be noted that this product isn't proved to be at fault. Until and unless I get a genuine Nokia cable I will not know if maybe Nokia software is to blame. But for now there are limitations to the setup.

This item includes the USB-Phone cable, and is packaged with a CD including Windows drivers, how to guide (MS Word doc), and Nokia PC Suite version too. This is a quality package for only two dollars or so, if you only need what it can do.

I followed the directions and it worked, although you probably need to do like I did and pay attention to their advice to change the COM port (as viewed in My Computer -> Device Manager). On my laptop this meant changing the Nokia program to reference virtual COM port 9.

I also followed the advice of the Nokia software install and let it download the more current version of PC Suite. But it was great to have the CD included version to bootstrap that process, instead of having to go to the Nokia website.

It was a little janky, but it finally worked. I had to connect and disconnect the cable several times and checked the internet for tips on how to get it to work, but I can't complain--I got it to work, downloaded all the info from my ancient phone, which is all that I wanted.

After looking at other reviews, I thought I'd have to jump through hoops to get this cable to work. It worked fine for me, and I'll describe what I did for others.

Computer system: Windows XP Professional on a Compaq 6910p
Phone: Nokia 3120b

What I did:
(1) launch Nokia PC Suite (v 6.85.14.1)
(2) plug cable into phone and then computer's USB port
(3) put cdrom into cd player
(4) start / settings / control panel / system / hardware tab / device manager
* Here there was a yellow "other device" in the list of devices with an alert and an option to install drivers
* I clicked to install drivers, and chose to install software automatically.
* Windows found the cdrom and installed the software
(5) After installation, the device manager showed a "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM6)" under "Ports (COM & LPT)"
(6) In the Nokia PC Suite, I chose settings / Manage connections.
* Choose Serial cable (CA-42) and click "Configure"
* I chose COM6 (use whatever port matches the one shown in step 5.
(7) In the Nokia PC Suite, I chose settings / Add more phones

Nokia now found the phone and the world smiled a little

I am unable to give any kind of review for this item since I was shipped the wrong cable. On a positive my payment was refunded and I was not required to return ship the incorrect item.

I was impressed at the price-to-value on this even after including the shipping charge. The fact this seller includes Windows USB drivers (that I don't use) is a bonus that wasn't expected. Delivery was fast, packaging was protective but easy to deal with. I highly recommend this product and this seller.

This will not matter to most people, but the USB end of this cable is a converter that lets you easily adapt this cable to other uses. In my case, I am using this as a cable to monitor the Rom Monitor of an embedded Linux device, the Patriot Box Office. To do this, you only need to remove the proprietary "Nokia end" and replace it with a standard CDROM four-wire connector. The built-in converter makes it possible for you to cheaply and easily diagnose issues at the system level for embedded Linux development work.

Product cost is very reasonable, and it arrived in good order.
However, different phones need different cables.
This did not fit my phone, although the model number of
my phone was listed.

I bought this and ran the setup file only to find that the drivers and other files are meant for xp. I have vista so this is no good. I don't have any experience with phone data cables so I cannot figure this out. It would be nice if they included instructions! I get the feeling I just wasted $5...this is not an official nokia cable and I saw posts on a forum about people saying you need different drivers in order for it to work. The links to said drivers had been posted 5 years ago and are now dead. It may be that my 6800 is locked, I'm not sure how to tell if it is or not. Perhaps I should try backing up my contacts with a different phone/cable. Ah well, live and learn...
