For those of us with older cars that don't come equiped with an iPod dock, this is the next best thing. I read reviews of iPod FM adapters that broadcast the music on the iPod to an FM station on your car radio. Every review I read for these products - which cost $70-$90 complained of poor reliability and the difficulty of finding a spot on the FM wavelength to receive the signal as on drove around the country.
This gadget has a plug that goes into the earphone jack, and a casette tape that goes in your tape deck. The iPod's music goes through your car's stereo system which is awesome if you have a good system in your car. This is inexpensive, simple to use, and pretty reliable. When using this for the first time, I had a moment of panic, because "this side up" on the tape meant putting the end with the line to the earphone jack in the tape deck; this of course did not fit. I then noticed a groove in the top of the casette. I was able to get the line into the groove and run across the top of the casette so it fit in the tape deck and came out to attach to the earphone jack. This wasn't explained in the instructions for the adapter and might frustrate someone unfamiliar with the adaptors. So now you know!

So like the other review mine too was constantly auto reversing. There were two things I did and it's not clear which is the solution but I'll share nonetheless. I thought the black wheel was not installed properly because when you place the tape "This Side Up" it would not rotate properly. I re-set the wheel (took the thing apart) and it rotated better but it still auto-reversed a ton. I saw a groove on the top of the adapter which looked like the wire could fit through it allowing me to insert it on the other side which seems to have worked much better!
Basically it's not placed "This side up" but who cares as long as it works. It's a no risk device to buy from Amazon. If it fails to work .. you lost max of $3.00 but if it works you saved a ton compared to equivalent devices. I would recommend at least trying it.. what do you have to lose?

I just bought an IPOD, and wanted to plug it on my old cassette radio on my 96 Ford Explorer. It did its job, when the radio system did not work, due to station interference.

Amazing Cassette Adapter,

I received this cassette adapter just yesterday.
It works great with my Sansa View. I heard no fuzziness whatsoever unless I turned the volume all the way down to the minimum. The clarity and quality of the sound was radio quality or better. The only problem I had with it was not the cassette adapters fault. I have a car equipped with an automatic volume adjuster, so that as I gain speed (and thus increased wind/road noise), the volume of my stereo increases to compensate. When I had that set to its maximum compensation level (perfect for radio listening), the sound jumped by 2-3-4 levels instead of its normal smooth gradation, nearly blasting me out of the car. This was easily solved, of course, by putting the volume adjuster on its next to lowest setting. This almost spooked me into an accident, so I thought I should throw that out there to make sure others knew. But again, this is a great cassette adapter with perfect clarity and quality of sound. Well, well, well worth the price.

This was a horrible purchase! I know it only cost a penny but after shipping, that was three dollars wasted. I threw mine away. The sound quality was HORRIBLE! And the static noise was so loud, I could barely hear the music. Do not purchase this! Save your money and buy the $10.00 one at Walmart!

You cant complain for a penny, however the distortion is awful and not worth listening to... spend the money and get a decent tape.

Price is right but sound quality could be better,

I initially purchased two of these adapters (one for each of our cars) because I do not have a MP3 jack on my factory stereo this appeared to be an inexpensive alternative to the FM-based adapters. Well, it technically works (sound from the ipod is played through the stereo) but the sound quality is very poor. The higher frequencies are almost totally missing and the general sound quality is somewhat muffled. At first I thought that either my cassette deck was dirty or my adapter was defective but since I bought two of them for two cars, was able to try all combinations and the results were the same.
My recommendation is to spend the extra $15 and get the Griffin iTrip FM tramsmitter. That is what I finally did and the sound quality is much better.

Bargaincell Cassette Player Adapter for iPods and MP3 Players does exactly what it says. It isn't the best quality but for the price its great. Some songs play with way too much bass but maybe thats just my car. There is a lil hissing but just turn your music up !

This product is a simulation of a cassette adapter that unfortunately provides none of the functionality typically associated with that device.
