An Enjoyable Romp, June 16, 2010
This review is from: Bargained Into Her Boss's Bed (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is part of a series, 'Hudsons of Hollywood' (I think...something along those lines anyways). Max is a film producer and for the last 5 or so years has depended heavily on his executive assistant, Dana, to run not only his professional life, but his personal one as well. Dana has fallen in love with her boss over that time but has kept things professional knowing Max is still pining for his dead wife. However, Dana wants more out of life than being someone's assistant, she too wants to produce and since Max has been unwilling to promote her she offers him her resignation.
Things get tense when that happens, he threatens to make sure she never works again. They work out a bargain, he will temporarily promote her to associate producer on a trial basis. But it involves living in his house and putting in lots of overtime. Max has no idea that by forcing her to do this he is going to get to know Dana in a way he never expected.
I liked the tension between this pair, it was more realistic than most in that they have an very firmly established relationship from the get go. They are building on their previous knowledge of each other and taking it to the next level. It made the whole story much more believable. They were very three dimensional characters and I enjoyed the book, it didn't have me cringing at cliches or silly dialogue. The romance wasn't forced, it seemed pretty organic to the plot.
A very enjoyable read, I'd look for more by this author next time I'm browsing for books in this section.
