5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Grail of Deep House, but the SONG ORDER IS WRONG
Is it just me, or was there all of a sudden this explosion of bargrooves or bargrooves-esque compilations available? With so many to weed through, it's a rarity to stumble upon something sooooo sweet as this set. I happen to completely disagree with my fellow reviewer, and feel that disc 2 is without a doubt the ALPHA house mix. Disc 1 is fine, it's just that a lot of...

This is the weakest of this Bargrooves series for me. Disc 1 by Ben, as always, is great. Just not feeling Disc 2, but still a good listen.

Disc 1 is fine, it's just that a lot of it has been done before. I feel that Vincent Kwok really pushes the grooves across the globe, spanning several genres and even decades (the 80's funk heavy Joey Negro's 'Begun 2 Luv U' to the more current 'Attend 1'). Buy it, you WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!! In fact, you will thank me time and again for the recommendation.

BUT, when you start listening to it on your IPODs, or MP3s, or whatever, and notice that the song names DON'T match up for disc 2, don't be alarmed. SERIOUSLY, they got it wrong! Tracks 1, 2, 3, and 4 are all right, but then track 5 (even on AMAZON) is NOT "Stranger," but 'Just because,' with is listed as track 12. So from here, you have to do a little shifting. Track 6 is actually "Stranger," and then so on. So when you're on "Touch Me," (which ROCKS, by the way), and are expecting one more song... don't, it's over. ;-) Just thought I would help out others, since I was totally confused for so long about this. Think I should send this to ben and the gang at kinkysweet. Still, don't let this stop you from owning this true gem!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Once again, those at Bargrooves deliver the goods, July 6, 2004

...and deliver them in a major way. Bottom line, if it's put out by these guys, it will be amazing. Bargrooves has done no wrong from the very outset. Each of these "special places" cd's have been utterly fantastic, as were/are the 4 "seasons" series (i.e., indian summer, primavera, etc.) - available separately or as one, luscious box-set.

Smooth, deep and sexy flowing house. More jazzy and smooth than pulsing bpm's. Very sensual and perfect for all settings, be it sunning oceanside/poolside, dinner parties with cocktails, or what have you.

If you get this, you'll know doubt enjoy it immensely. Also, definitely check out more in the Bargrooves series, as well as the fantastic stuff being put out by Hed Kandi, Naked Music and Dolce Vita.

5.0 out of 5 stars BARGROOVES GROOVES!!!, July 19, 2004
This review is from: Bargrooves: Frosted (Audio CD)
A few impressive things about the BARROOVES series are the flawless and seamless mixing by the DJs, which would explain the record label's name. Next is the awesome track selections: everything here is stuff you haven't heard, or maybe have heard minimally on other discs. Finally, the discs are a party waitin' to happen! Don't worry about hiring a DJ for your next romp--just pop any of the BARGROOVES discs in and watch folks tear the place up! "Frosted" brings back the consistent, edgey flavor of "Al Fresco"--"Espace Prive" was a little weak IMO, but still decent for a Deep House Mix CD. That notwithstanding, this series is worth checkin' out if you haven't already! Get Ya Club On!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bargrooves Frosted IS Cold-Blooded, October 24, 2008

For the past few years, I've been lucky enough to attend Frankie Knuckles annual 4th of July and Thanksgiving sets. Who's smoother than Frankie, the King of House? Well, I have to say that this compilation rivals any Frankie set. It is an extreme pleasure to listen to. Disc 1 begins with the hypnotic Lady and ends with the electric King of Rock. By the time I got to track 10, "Oh Lord," I was praying for more Bargrooves compilations. Disc 2 all I can say is "Vincent, Does your mother know what you do for a living?" It's too cold. I gave the set to a friend that came of age at Frankie sets at the original "warehouse." She called about an hour later, to say that she got so caught up in the groove that she missed her freeway exit.
Though everyone's taste is different, I'd recommend this CD. BTW, there's nothing wrong with the play order, the posted lists are incorrect.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the better Bargrooves, February 16, 2007
This review is from: Bargrooves: Frosted (Audio CD)
As usual, another good release from Bargrooves. Disc 1 is a nice, mellow warm up, and Ben Sowton often has the better disc out of the 2 in the series, but I'd have to say disc 2 is the highlight of this particular set. Both are classy, tasteful deep house sets, as is the norm for the series, and I think this is one of the better ones they've put out. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice west coast house, July 7, 2004
This review is from: Bargrooves: Frosted (Audio CD)
more upbeat than the naked productions... too many bells/whistles/swooshes on the first disc - the inclusion of Migule Migs' track makes up for it. latino beats on the second disc are a warm welcome.
