Barilla's oven ready lasagna noodles are so much better than I imagined. I was a skeptic, there is just no way a piece of pasta can be put in a dish, baked, and end up perfect. Oh was I wrong, this is some of the best lasagna I've ever made. No more parboiling for me.

The package has an excellent lasagna recipe on the back. I more or less followed it and am surprised at the results. It is important for those top sheets of noodles that they get completely covered with sauce or cheese, the exposed pasta won't get tender, and it will char. This is the big difference with boiled noodles - those not exposed areas turn a nice crispy flavor I happen to like. The exposed oven ready pasta turned brittle and a little burnt, not a flavor I love.

I used a 9 x 13 ceramic pan. As the instructions said, I sprayed the pan with canola oil, and then covered the bottom with tomato sauce. Next time I'll use a lot less sauce, using a thin layer instead of thick. Don't be afraid to overlap the pasta sheets. These sheets don't exactly fit the dimensions of a 9x13 pan. I would use one extra sheet per layer next time, instead of four. From there it is layer with ricotta (I used cottage cheese, a throwback to Betty Crocker and my childhood), sauce, cooked meat (I used a really lean fennel veal Italian sausage a friend made), mozzarella (I like whole milk mozzarella - Pollio brand comes to mind - about a pound and a half is closer to the right amount), and some parmesan. For the last layer it is important to really cover the pasta with sauce - that's the first thing put on the top. Then drop more of the meat and cover completely with mozzarella.

It is a really good idea to put a pan underneath the lasagna pan while baking. A fair amount of sauce bubbles out.

For a long time, I was quite leary of "no preboiling required" lasagne noodles. I finally caved a couple years ago and tried the Barilla ones. Man, they are great! I really enjoy making a few different lasagnas, but I didn't use to make it often because it's kind of a pain. With these, it eliminates a somewhat frustrating step (am I the only one who grumbles when the boiled noodles stick to each other and tear?)

With these, you just layer them like you would pre-boiled noodles. As long as you use plenty of sauce in your recipe, you will have a beautifully layered, frustration-free lasagna once it's baked.

The 4-pack price on Amazon is great. I can rarely find these for less than 2.50/box at the grocery store (and that's a rare sale price).

Flavor Name: Oven Ready LasagneSize: 9 Ounces, (Pack of 4) Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I've used other brands of no-boil lasagne pasta in the past and didn't like them. This is good though. I'm a home chef. Sometimes I run out of time. Tonight was one of those nights. Not only was dinner late, but my sink was full of dishes from earlier. That's just life. When life hits, short cuts are nice. It was time to try this pasta.
I ended up just making lasagne in the pan I browned my meat in. I drained it, threw in some sauce, and started layering, then threw the whole thing in the oven. It was perhaps the fastest made lasagne in the history of lasagne but it came out EXCELLENT and I had very little left to put up. My guys gobbled it and went back for seconds, and my son got thirds.
I just made sure to get sauce above and below the noodles. They did expand out but to me didn't look that wavy and were PERFECT. I couldn't have boiled them better- because when I boiled them, I'd no doubt tear some of them. I'm bad to do that.

These look like dried egg roll wrappers right out of the box. Mine were all intact- I expected, with shipping and all, for at least a few of them to be broken but they weren't. I bet you could use these for egg roll wrappers if you soaked them. If I ever try it, I'll update my review.

I'll buy these again and replace regular pasta with these. It's SO nice not to have a boiler to wash, and we found them to be good pasta...really pretty perfect for my family's likes and needs.

This is my first time using Barilla Oven Ready Lasagna No Boil Noodles. I've got them from the Place with the Red and White Circles by my House just by accident and I'm Glad I did. My Lasagna was very good even though it only had Two Layers, my Baking Pan was just a little over two inches Tall, I need to get a Big Lasagna Pan over Three Inches Tall to make those Tall Lasagnas, three Layers and more like some Folks do

The Old Noodles:
I am so used to eat those Horrible, Slimy, Thick Sheets of Dough with the Ruffle Edges that you have to Boil and then Fish them out the Boiling water which is very Hard to do, they are Slippery and sometimes they Break apart and you have to use pieces of this and that. Once they laid on the Lasagna they became Hard and Tasteless, I usually pull them apart they are too Chewy and Rubbery, I don't care for them, and this is one of the reasons why I never make Lasagna

The New Noodles:
Now here it comes, Barilla Lasagna Noodles, Italy's #1 Brand of Pasta according to the Packaging Box, they are Thin, Tender, Delicate...I was Pleasantly Surprised, they are not that Dense unlike the other Ruffled Noodles, they cut so nicely with the fork you don't have to Dig in trying to Pried them apart like the others and they are so easy to work with, just gently laid them in your Lasagna Baking Dish...Wow! ... How come no one told me about these sheets before? ...I knew they were out there, I just never tried them

Barilla Lasagna No Boil Noodles, I really like them, very Thin Sheets that are Rolled Flat in the Tradition of Homemade and it does taste like that too, there's no Boiling Required, it is amazing with very little Moisture the Fragile sheets of Dough can turn in such a Soft Tender Laminas of Flavorful Dough, almost like Pastry.
