Editorial Reviews

Review

By Robert Cosmar
CJ's sequel book of poetry for children is as delightful as the first and
speaks to the hearts of both, children and their parents or teachers ...

From the Author

Hi, I'm CJ, and I love writing for children -- they have such an innocent view
of the world and their surroundings.  Years ago, I raised three daughters and
now I have nine grandchildren.  During those years, I filled a pile of notebooks
with funny or insightful things I saw and heard them all do.  It just naturally followed
that I would put those things into rhyme ... in three poetry books for children:
"Barking Spiders (and Other Such Stuff), Poetry for Children" (2000),
"Barking Spiders 2" (2011), and Me Too!  Preschool Poetry" (2011).
"May you always see the world through the eyes of a child." ~ Hugs, CJ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Six thumbs up! December 1, 2011
By jot2000
Format:Paperback
My grandchildren--4 1/2 and 7--and I had enjoyed reading and sharing CJ's first children's poetry book for children (Barking Spiders) and were very happy to learn that she had written a second volume. As a mom, grandma, and school librarian, I am always delighted to find books for children that are entertaining, educational, and FUN to read; that you just need to read aloud and can't wait to share with others. This one is all that but manages to stay above "too cutesy" or "talking down" to children.
The kids just know they like what's in there--both the poems and the illustrations. My granddaughter had to get the first book out so she could re-read it and compare the two books to see if she "thought the second one was as good as the first one." She declared that, indeed, it is. She took it it school to share with her friends and classmates.
Poetry is such a good way to get children interested in words and in reading..CJ's books are fun ones to add to your collection.
Two thumbs up from each of the three of us!

The book had great poems. Each poem painted a picture for me. The words made them come to life. As I read them I felt like I was right there. Also, the variety of the poems made them more interesting. No poems seemed like any of the others. I am happy I got to read the book. Thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A home run from the heart October 23, 2011
Format:Paperback
Children are very open in their imagination and heart. No prejudice or complaint to disturb the innocence within them. CJ nourishes that innocence and reveals in her poetry experiences wrapped in a blanket of warm loving comfort to be held by both child and parent as they read. This is an excellant book for parents searching for a way to discuss topics in life (funny, insightful and serious) that are a challenge to share with a child. It is an excellent followup to her first successful book: Barking Spiders Poetry Vol 1.

4.0 out of 5 stars Barking Spiders 2 November 20, 2011
Format:Paperback
CJ did it, again!!! I fell in love with Barking Spiders and Other Such Stuff, almost 5 years ago. I recently received the sequel, Barking Spiders 2, and fell in love with it, too, after the first reading. CJ has really touched my heart with her writing. I truly see myself, and my children, in her poetry. This is a great book, and I highly recommend it to anyone to anyone with children or has a young heart of their own.
