I have used the Barlean's swirl products for a while now, and have found them to be an great product that does provide a real health benefit. I was concerned (like others) that this product is not refrigerated by Amazon. I called the company before ordering and found that it wasn't necessary to refrigerate until opening. It has a delicious flavor and the price is a lot cheaper than my local whole foods when using subscribe and save. I have this on auto-ship every 30 days.

(For those who aren't up on their internet lingo, that is a fun way of saying "yummy!")

I have always dreaded fish oil. For medical purposes I take a higher-than-usual amount of EPA (approximately 2 grams; a double dose of this product contains 1820mg which is close enough for me), and thus far actually getting it into me has been an annoying and frustrating problem. I've spent a painful amount of money on half a dozen Very Expensive Name Brand fish oils that were supposedly flavored but for me it was just lemon or orange flavored fish. Yuck. I just cannot get past the taste/smell of fish that coats my throat and refreshes the flavor with every burp, just in case I might have, by some chance, forgotten it. Picked up a children's fish oil gummie product - would have had to chew up ten of the little buggers to get my daily dose, but price-wise I could have managed it - but the fishiness was so strong that I couldn't even get one into my mouth, how they expect a typical picky-ish kid to gnaw on them is a puzzle to me. I have a digestive disorder that causes my stomach to empty very slowly, so the so-called "odorless" or "burp-free" capsules that rely on getting into the small intestine before they break down hang around in my stomach and cause those nauseating, dragon-breath-inducing fishy burps. (To add insult to injury, they're usually either big enough to choke a horse or you have to take a handful of the darn things.) I have taken my fishy-tasting fish oils back to stores and asked clerks who take fish oil to smell/taste them for spoilage - although how they would ALL be rancid I have no idea - and have been assured that they were perfectly fine, I simply seem to be hypersensitive to the taste. I don't know what it is, no matter what form it's in, liquid or pills, fish oil makes me burp.

I swear to you I am not an employee of the company that makes this stuff. I have always had trouble swallowing fish oil pills and did not like any of the liquid products I had tried before. Omega Swirl tastes like lemon meringue and has a wonderful texture. I could happily eat ten spoonfuls of it or more (you only need one, obviously). It is literally delicious. I wrote to the company to thank them for this product because I am now a regular consumer and I am so grateful for the health benefits. I whole-heartedly recommend Omega Swirl. Let's keep this product on the market! If you are avoiding fish oil because you find it unpleasant, I promise you will love this.

I have tried fish oil in the past and it made me gag. I even tried mixing it with other sweeter foods and all it did was trash the food I was eating and made it taste even nastier. So I decided to try it again six years later. I expected it to taste nasty and perhaps even nastier due to the lemon flavor. I thought it would just taste like tart fish oil. So when I poured it out I winced, and put it back down. I remembered the nasty taste all too well. After about 30 minutes procrastinating with the cats I tried it again. I opened the bottle, smelled it and was surprised. It actually smelled good? I thought how clever of them to make it smell good and then make it taste vicious! However I put it to my mouth and gulped and it didnt taste bad at all! It tasted sort of good. It was a bit oily but basically like a smoothie! I had all sorts of sweet liquids (koolaid and soda) to quickly dash to in order to get the taste out of my mouth but ended up not using them! I'm quite pleased with it! I'm taking it in order to help me deal a bit better with stress and anxiety as I noticed while I was on the Perricone diet that my anxiety levels diminished quite a bit. So instead of eating gads of fish maybe I can just take fish oil and it will do the trick?

UPDATE: Alright, I just finished my first bottle and started another and this new one does have a more fish taste to it. Not unbearable but noticable, so I can understand how some are getting more fish tasting batches than others and coming away with different impressions of it. I still prefer this over the more overt tasting product but I think it may be a bet from bottle to bottle.

I tried this from a friend and ended up wanting to buy some because of the health benefits, but I can't stand the fishy taste of normal fish oil (and this one tastes good - like lemon meringue.) After reading reviews, I was hesitant to buy through mail order so I wrote to Barleans and this is the response I got - just wanted to share this since it is fine to order it via mail...

Thanks for writing. Yes, this would be just fine as we don't ship refrigerated to consumers or to our retailers. The product would need to be heated to over 300 degrees F to start to break down. I hope this helps best of health!
