After reading a prior review I was concerned about the bottles not being refrigerated during transit.

This is from the Barlean's website

FAQ

Do you ship the oil refrigerated? Does the transit time affect the oils?

Either high heat (over 300 degrees F) or sustained heat over a very long period of time can degrade Omega-3 oils. The relatively short transit times and variable seasonal temperatures encountered during transit have been found to be insignificant when tested extensively. Even shipments arriving in summer heat waves can be assured as being potent and undamaged.

Dear Amazon Shopper,

If you're reading this, I will assume that you are aware of the benefits of consuming Omega-3 fatty acids. In brief, Omega-3's support neuroplasticity and speed along the transfer of electrical impulses in the brain via increased neuronal reactivity to synaptic signaling (as DHA is preferentially used for the construction of ion channels when made available through omega fatty acid consumption). It is advantageous that this product includes omega from both land and sea sources, as omega-3's derived solely from plant sources (such as flax) lose potency as a result of the endogenous conversion of ALA's into a usable format. Further, rest assured that any degradation associated with lack of temperature control during transit would be nominal.

That being said, the palatability of this oil leaves something to be desired. The lemony zest has enough kick to knock your teeth out if you down this stuff straight, but it IS preferable to the "fishy" taste of other supplements (which is not even remotely evident with this product). I put a tablespoon of this into a smoothie every morning, which takes the edge off of the razor-sharp lemony zing with which this oil pierces the tongue.

The bottle, while a shade tall, fits well inside a refrigerator door, and there is a permeable seal that prevents oil from spilling out of the bottle too quickly. This thoughtful feature allows you to squeeze the desired amount of oil out of the bottle, preventing spillage and overuse. Also, utilizing the oil directly is, to my mind, far preferable to ingesting gelatin capsules made from cellulose and titanium dioxide.

The price isn't unreasonable considering the quantity of product you receive, and Barlean's is one of the more trusted names in this industry.

I came across this product after trying to figure out how to get my sons eczema under control. I came across a book on amazon called superimmunity for kids awhile back and it spoke highly of omega 3-6-9 and how sometimes a lack of 3-6 or 9 can cause allergies, eczema and so forth. The book first recommended trying 3, did that and noticed a slight difference. According to the author some of us lack a combination so I purchased this product since it had all three and as long as I keep him on a regular schedule his skin no longer has break outs. If I dont I notice that a couple weeks later his skin will start to have breakouts. I usually squirt about a tsp in his flavored yogurt and if I forget he reminds me because he likes the taste of it.

I tend to like Barlean's products, so I was pleased when I found this balanced 3-6-9 blend from them. However; the taste? Blech. I don't like the taste of fish, which is why I use fish oil capsules or this Barlean's product, instead. The Total Omega 3-6-9 not only tastes fishy but it also has an aftertaste of lemonade, which I dislike. I think this is one product which will sit in my fridge for many moons before I remember it & throw it out.
I may force myself to take it. I should say in it's defense, it really does have a high dose of Alpha Linolenic Acid (an omega 3) at 6080 mg per 1 TBSP. The other omega 3's, 6's & 9 are also at fairly high doses when compared against the Barlean's Flax Oil which I purchased to use instead of this Total Omega.
It is a fairly good product. I'm just finicky when it comes to tastes I dislike, & this product has 2 unpleasant tastes in 1 product.

This is my second bottle of Barlean"s organic oils and I am truly please with this product. I have a bad case of tendonitis and it was recommended that i use this product along with salmon oil fish oil and aged garlic and I can say that this has made a big difference and I am using my right leg again.

Most products contain Omega 3 fatty acids, most important one but research shows a need for the 6 and 9 in a proper ratio, that's where the Total Omega comes in!
The taste is relatively good too

We use a tablespoon of the lemonade flavored oil in our healthy protein shake, but I have also used it on a salad with a little wine vinegar and it is quite good as it has a little lemon taste.

My son takes this oil every day to help with his attention in the classroom. I think that it helps him. He seems to do better than he used to. My only complaint is that I have heard that these oils should be kept refrigerated at all times and other companies ship it in a refrigerated truck to keep it from going rancid. If you purchase it at a store, it is in a refrigerated case.
