Great marketing, poor product,

This review is from: Barlean's Organic Oils Fresh Catch Fish Oil, Orange Flavor, 250-Softgels / 1000 mg each (Health and Beauty)
First of all, pharmaceutical grade fish oil is supposed contain at least 60% EPA and DHA omega-3's of the entire serving. That is a requisite for it to be labeled 'pharmaceutical.' Barlean's actually has 600 mg(EPA+DHA) per 2000 mg total. That is 30%. You may wonder what the other 1400 mg consists of. Mainly, stuff that you wouldn't want to be ingesting in the first place. Sure 250 capsules sounds like an incredible amount. More than a half year's worth of fish oil for only 20 bucks! The back, however, suggests you take 2-6 tablets a day. I was also under the impression that these were molecularly distilled. I don't know why I thought so, maybe I read that somewhere else about another one of Barleans products. Either way, these are not.
These are not terrible, and I am sure I am being harsher than necessary, but it seems that the only thing people care about is the taste(or lack thereof). I am more concerned with the benefits of the actual product itself. The marketing team has done a splendid job with Barleans fish oil(organic, the 'five layer protection', and selling them as pharmaceutical). I am convinced they are nothing special, though I will continue to finish off the bottle that I impulsively purchased.

This is my favorite brand (and "flavor") fish oil because it's the only one I've tried that doesn't give me fish burps. I find that taking fish oil on a daily basis (which I don't always do due to laziness) really makes a difference in my overall health. It especially helps with acne and oily skin. Acne is partially related to errors in fatty acid metabolism, and omega 3s help normalize this.Kathleen M. Diehl, co-author "Beyond Disease Care"
