5.0 out of 5 stars New Baking Necessity
As a part-time ameature baker, I see dramatic results when incoporating this powder. My breads have a much better golden color, and colleagues at work often compliment my breads on their appearance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tastes terrible
I buy malted milk powder to use in milk drinks. This brand tastes terrible and lumps together. It's probably OK for baking.

Barley Malt powder is super healthy, since the sugars are largely Maltose, which do not produce a sharp sugar spike for diabetics. I have tried just about every one available, and Barry Farms makes the best one of all. The Barry Farms barley malt powder is sweeter tasting than most others and quick dissolving in milk. I use it with straight cocoa powder and milk in a blender to make a tasty chocolate malted breakfast drink. Two tablespoons of this only has 3 grams of sugar. This is one great tasting health food.

I'm learning to make sour dough bread, and the barley malt really helps in making the bread raise.

I use this in many baked goods instead of brown sugar. It has a wonderful caramel flavor. It's powdery texture is not good for brown sugar toppings though. For that I use it mixed into Splenda with some barley malt syrup.
