I have owned my Nook, the 1st edition, for over a year now and LOVE it!! It's traveled with me across the world (China) and back. The battery has a good charge life and only needs to be plugged in for a little while every few days to build up a full charge ~ of course, this is with heavy use.

I still read soft covers too and find that when I read my Nook, the battery is very satisfactory. The screen is crisp and the text is very clear.

I've loaded audio tunes and books on my Nook and playback works just fine.

I'm not a game player so I don't use that feature.

The wi-fi is fine and when I go to Barnes & Noble with my Nook, it automatically connects to the B&N wi-fi network where I can read anything in the store (that is available on the Nook) for free.

I've uploaded library e-books on my Nook to great success and I have used the Lend-Me B&N feature with friends who also have a Nook. All in all, I love this device. I previously owned the Amazon Kindle but didn't like their ebook file type restrictions (no ePub for example) so I switched to the Nook.

The only issue I have right now, and it's VERY MINOR, is that I have to have a light when reading my Nook. I don't like book light clips and when traveling, if I want to read and my roommate wants to sleep, it can be a bit a of challenge with lighting. I plan to invest in the Nook Color soon just for the mere fact that I won't need a light to read by. Also, I haven't noticed any issues with a glare on the screen from any light source.

I did have one problem with the very 1st software update (released more than a year ago) and the customer service reps were very helpful.

I have had my Nook 3G/WiFi for about two years. I found I only get about 1 week maximum reading with the wifi turned off. If the book is longer that 350 pages I would have to charge to finish the book even reading it straight through. In the beginning
B & N claimed that software updates would vastly improve the battery life. Two updates later and the battery life is no better. I complained and was told the battery might be faulty so B & N sent a new one because I was still under warranty and threatened to buy a Kindle. Either the new battery was also faulty or the problem wasn't the battery. Just to be sure I purchase a new battery but didn't get any better results. Reading to me should be relaxing so I will be purchasing a Kindle within the next month.

I thought I bought the new condition, but the title says Certified. What I got is not new, but Certified Pre-owned. It is really ugly inside, with dirt... Needless to say, I cannot gift it at all.

I would have liked to know that the Nook 3g+ wifi I ordered for did not have a microSD slot installed. It was a huge let down and inconvinience coupled with the fact that pdb files were not supported as claimed. The truth about preowned devices should be stated. Personally no more preowned stuff for me again!

This is a great little ebook reader with great battery life and a very easy to read display. I got one my wife and she liked it so much that I decided to get one for myself. It is very easy to get books from Barnes and Noble, or to download from our local library, or to transfer files from a computer. This nook is the first generation, so there aren't any video capabilities and it has only a black and white display but it works very well for reading books. It also has a consumer replaceable battery that can be found around on the internet for 10 to 20 dollars (which the second generation devices do not have.) All in all, this is a terrific little device even if it is a refurb! Highly recommended.

Not sure what to say about this because I purchased it as a gift for my cousin. She seems to have been quite pleased with it.

Gave this to my teacher son; and his wife liked it so much she took it over! Great for when you want to read in bed and not bother your mate. She says thank you all the time for my son's gift! lol
