Ideal for introducing archery to your kids, the Lil' Sioux recurve bow set from Barnett features a 15-pound draw weight, 12- to 22-inch draw length, soft touch grip, and an ambidextrous reinforced handle. This set includes a multi-color target, 2 target arrows, finger tab, arm guard, and an adjustable sight.

Tech Talk

Recurve Bow: Includes tips that tips that curve away from the archer when the bow is strung. More energy is stored and delivered more efficiently than a straight-limbed bow.

Draw Weight: The amount of force, measured in pounds, needed to bring the bow to full draw.

Draw Length: The length of arrow draw by an individual archer, it's the measurement of the distance from the string at full draw to the lowest point on the grip plus 1.75 inches. To get this measurement, stand with your arms outstretched, in line with each other, and palms facing forward. Have someone else measure from the tip of one middle finger to another, then divide this measurement by 2.5 to get your draw length.

This is a hard bow to master. One arrow's tip fell out minutes after using them (store arrows are very expensive!) and the included glove is for bigger hands. My kid can't pull the bow back yet. The notches for the arrows should have some holder because you need to hold it at an angle to actually keep the arrow in place. I have seen add-ons for composite bows but not for recurve bows.

As far as the handle part and the main bow part, it is made well. I was disappointed with the string. It's kind of like a rope, too thick for the bow. I was expecting it to have more pink as well. It is mostly black. This bow is too long for my 6 year old niece, good size for my 8 yr old son. I'd rather have a Bear Crusader for him at that price tho.

I am not an archer, bought this set for my little girl and she loved it. It is hard for her to pull back but she is small and not very strong. However she still like to go out side and shoot it.
