Let me start by stating that I am not a professional bow hunter. I bought these broadheads for my son's Barnett Jackal Crossbow. These things screw into the shaft securely (as I would assume all broadheads would do) and they stay in tight upon repeated use. They come to you in razor sharp condition and are designed to expand upon impact for a wider wound channel. The expansion mechanism seems pretty foolproof, and the heads themselves are durable after repeated entries into a stacked foam target.

While these have the Barnett name on them they are Tru-Fire Switchblades. Tru-fire makes actual practice tips that simulate the actual Switchblade in either 100 or 125 grain. These are a required sight-in tool to keep from shooting the real broad heads. I have been using the Switchblades for 3 years now and have had very good performance and clean kills. Only downside is that the blades are not replaceable. If you are shooting a crossbow with speeds in excess of 375 fps you will need the Switchblades that are built for crossbows or the heads can open up premature just due to the speed and launch from the Xbow.

These blades are recommended for the Barnett cross bow which I would expect from any company that makes both products. I have found that often the recommended products are very good, such as the Barnett arrows I have used in practice shooting with this bow, so I went with the recommendation. I have never hunted with a cross bow before but have hunted with a bow since I was 12 years old. I shot at and missed my first deer using wood arrows and a re-curve bow back in 1960. The expanding blades, upon examination, seem to function very well and open and collapse as they are required. They open upon impact and will close down easily by pulling gently on the tip.
Though I do not plan to shoot these into a target before hunting, I am experienced enough with hunting tips to know how they will react. The non-expanding blades will "plane" especially with the high speed arrows. Flight can be different from the field points with the fixed blades. The research shows that the expanding tips fly very close to the same as a field point of the same weight. I am confident that this will be the case with the Barnett expandable broadheads. I'm excited about my first hunt with the cross bow and I say, " good hunting to you".

Another Awesome product by Barnett! This expandable Brodhead will get the job done! Believe me! This Broadhead will not cut up your quiver. You don't have to worry about pre-mature expansion before it makes it to the target, and when it does hit the target I believe you will be happy with the results! I'm very satisfied with this product and believe any hunter will be to. I recommend this Brodhead for hunting deer and boar.

I use these with my Barnett Wildcat. So far so good. I didn't have any luck with traditional broadheads because of the high speed. They planed really bad. These broadheads are very accurate and I don't experience any planing. Another reviewer commented that you need the practice tip to practice with. Honestly, I don't think it's necessary. I fired these repeatedly into a stacked foam target and every time they come out just fine. Actually, the first time I fired it, I assumed it would be the first and last time that one was fired because I thought it would break. I took that risk because I needed to know if how these would fly. I experienced about a 1 inch drop consistently with these compared to the fieldtips of equal weight. These exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to knock down my first deer with them.

These are special for the crossbow I own and they only deploy upon impact. Cool design, looks like they fly like field points because of the expandable blades
