I did alot of research on crossbows and decided the Barnett penetrator was a great deal for a quality crossbow. This bow is extremely accurate and is easy to operate using the barnett crank cocking device.I would say this was a good buy for the money.I bought this bow through amazon.com and couldn't be happier.I ordered the bow on friday morning and recieved it on the following tuesday morning. Thank you Amazon

I been using my Penetrator for almost 2 years now. 100+ shots later it is still awesome. I actuall taken a deer this past deer season at 70 yards. Arrow passed right through. The first deer I shot with this crossbow was at 30 yards and it dropped right in its tracks. Very powerful and accurate. Never had a problem. Make sure you use thread lock on all screws and wax every 5 shots.

This bow is fantastic and there are so many good things to say about it so I will just break it down to pros and cons.
PROS: powerful, fast, hits hard, ACCURATE, well balanced, fine scope, very appealing looks, nice trigger break, simple to build, looks like a barnett predator
CONS: hard to cock even with a rope cocker which decreases the pull to 87.5lbs), it's got some recoil, not meant for kids due to the fact that it weighs somewhere around 8.5lbs making it hard, but not impossible, to shoot offhand, requires a lot to stop the arrows from going straight through targets.
At 40yards from a bench I have shot 1.5'' groups. And from 20 yards from a bench I shot 1'' groups which included a robin hood on one of my first shots ever (once i got the scope sighted in). As I said in the cons however, you need to find a good target that will stop arrows from going in one side and out the other cause that ruins feathers. I recommend getting an old carpet with a tough bottom and rolling it up so its about 14 layers thick. If you are considering this crossbow...BUY IT.

Shipped in a timely manner, but I would recommend being home for its delivery because you don't want 450$ sitting on your porch. The penetrator is a good alternative to the more expensive predator and buck commander models the only noticeable difference is the penetrator does not have a rubber coating on the limbs making it louder. With this package comes the bow already assembled, the stock, scope in the box, a Barnett rope cocker, 3 20" Easton headhunter custom arrows and 3 125 grain field tips, all the items for assembly, and one tube of Barnett lube wax. The string comes pre waxed and the Product only requires attaching the bow to the stock with one bolt and attaching the scope to rail mount. The package has everything you need to start shooting. Do not expect the scope to be pinpoint out of the box The first arrow shot was high right and went over the target and imploded after hitting the brick wall behind it. Consider the arrows it ships with to be used for sighting it in as you may have them miss and end up underground or explode. At my local academy they do not sell the Easton headhunter arrows so I went with a heavier and cheaper carbon express alternative which is also more available, after sighting it in for my carbon express arrows it shoots as tight of a group as you can steady yourself to shoot this is difficult standing up as it weights 10-15 lbs despite the 8.6 lbs as advertised. This thing is basically a rifle that shoots arrows. The draw weight is 175 lbs and is difficult if you don't use the rope cocker. I am 6 ft and 150 lbs and I can pull the string back by hand a few times but it will eat your hands up. Barnett also makes a crank cocker that can be installed in the stock which is perfect for the elderly or people who are unable to use the rope or pull it back by hand. The rope cocker drapes over a notch behind the rail mount and lessens the pull weight to 82.5 lbs which is very easy for me. I also recommend buying a very good target that is suited for stopping high speed arrows, buying a regular bow target will just ruin the fletching on your 8$ arrows. Overall this is a awesome product by Barnett and is useable by everyone from the inexperienced to experts, young to old. If you plan on hunting check your state's hunting laws here in Florida crossbows are useable all through bow season but in some states they are only useable with a special permit issued to the elderly who are unable to draw a regular bow back.

I had a crossbow that was a manual pull type...it got sold. Too much work and tired me out practice shooting!
Now the penetrator with the crank...oh yea!
It's fast, accurate and deadly.
I can hit a cigarette pack at 40 yards and so far the deer around here haven't stood a chance.
The crank handle is the sh*t.

I love this crossbow. Fast and hits hard. It is not as loud as I expected which is a good thing! Easy to follow directions for assembling this crossbow. I purchased this with the Barnett cranking device. With a draw weight of 175 Lb your going to need it eventually. Good quality and solid build with this Barnett Penetrator.

I bought this crossbow 2 weeks ago & it was missing the main bolt to hold the bow together plus came with no instruction book either. i instantly called barnett which had a 80 minute hold time on the phones. so I emailed them & spoke with a lady who said they would get me a bolt quickly. after 2 weeks I am still waiting. plus I now I missed week 1 of New York's 2 week crossbow season . My opinion they make a decent product but customer assistance is terrible-plus my son bought a ghost crossbow from barnet also & came with a broken quiver they never answered his email yet after 2 weeks .

Awesome product. A little on the heavy side but that is the one and only draw back I can say. The draw weight is a lot and instead of trying to be all manly and drawback crooked, you might as well just use the rope cocking device. Overall a whole lot of bow for the money!
