Barney and the Backyard Gang perform live at the Majestic Theater in Dallas. Instead of the usual studio look and feel of the shows, this stage act features plenty of traditional songs, flag waving, big bright sets, and lots of audience energy. Among the tunes are "Everyone Is Special" and the ever-popular "Noble Duke of York." --Tom Keogh

My 20 month-old son was not a Barney fan until he was given this video as a gift. Unlike the Barney series on television, and the other videotaped Barney "concerts" (which are simply the television show on stage), this video is less a series of production numbers and dialogue, and more of an audience sing-along which encourages lots of at-home audience participation. Many of the songs will be familiar to most parents, allowing you to sing and interact with your child while he watches. Additionally, the more informal presentation of material is far more engaging than the other, more staged Barney videos, encouraging real participation as opposed to passive television watching. Lastly, this video combines education with entertainment, such as the alphabet sung in English, Hebrew and French by young audience members. A great way to have fun time with your child--or to give yourself 40 minutes to shower!

Because "Barney in Concert" is a live performance there is something happening at all times. My one-year-old daughter will sit still through the entire video (except when she's dancing with the backyard gang). Though highly entertaining, "Barney in Concert" is also educational, teaching bathtime rules, the alphabet in different languages and sharing. But there are also the fun/action type songs like "Itsy Bitsy Spider" done by Baby Bop, and "The Grand Old Flag." The audience participation is also fun to watch. This video is a must for my collection. In fact, I need two so that when one finally gives out, I'll have a back-up!

and so does my 9 month old baby. She loves to dance to it and talk back to Barney. Even my 6 year old and 2 11 year olds like this video. There is less dialogue than in a typical Barney show and more music and dancing. The video has typical pre-school and kindergarten age songs, and even sings the ABC song in Hebrew, French and English. It gives me the 40 minutes or so in the day that I need to get things accomplished.

This is one of the most energetic shows I've seen with Barney. He's got a lot of energy anyway, but with the ensemble cast of the Backyard Gang, he excels in this video, taped at the Majestic Theater in Texas.

Some of the favorite songs are "Grampa's Farm," "Itsy Bitsy Spider," which is the song which introduces "Baby Bop." In fact, she was introduced the public at this performance, and she was named by the Backyard Gang.

At the end of the show is a spectacular patriotic "Your a Grand Old Flag," with flag waving and marching, and of course the "I Love You" Song. It's interesting to watch the little tykes in the audience, along with their parents, as they interact with Barney on stage.

A wonderful video, and highly recommended!!!

My toddler granddaughter loves the songs and so do I, but there is one about this video that I don't like. From what I can tell, Baby Bop is first introduced on this video. When she first appears she dances in a manner that my daughter and I were not comfortable with for a children's video. Plus Baby Bop is adult size in this video. She's as tall as Barney! Even though she's adult size, she speaks in baby talk like "Me very afraid." This was just too weird and inappropriate. My toddler granddaughter did not seem to notice any of this. Anyway, I'm glad that in later videos, Baby Bop shrunk to her current height and no longer speaks in baby talk or dances in a manner more appropriate for an exotic dancer.

My 18 month daughter just loves it. It's approximately 45 minutes long and has 21 songs. This video has very little talking and lots of music! It also features the original "Backyard Gang". My daughter will sit engrossed in this video and when it's over, will ask to see it again! This is the perfect gift to any child who loves Barney! I highly recommend this video over any other Barney videos!

My 3 year old loves it and watched it again and again. This is a great educational and entertainment video tape. Less dialogue and a lot of songs. Fun to watch. One of the best Barney's tapes.

My 2 year old son loves this video. It is the "older" series of Barney and is not compatable with the Actimates Barney, but he loves it anyway. He now sings his ABCs and makes all the correct animal sounds all the while singing and dancing. He loves it!
