As the Publishers’ Announcement at the beginning of the book insists “Every professional builder, and every person, be he farmer or otherwise, who intends to erect a building of this kind, can, in this book, secure a wealth of designs and plans, for a comparatively trifling sum.” A wealth indeed! Herein are designs for a western cattle barn complete with covered cattle stalls and feeding apparatus, a portable pigpen with self-closing doors, a cornhouse and self-feeding corn crib, icehouses, springhouses, granaries, doghouses, and pigeonhouses.
