When we saw the movie, I loved the 'snippets' of songs. The album is even better! The perfect music to listen to on long drives--it is a mix of rowdy stompin' music with a couple of slow ballads added for good measure. I highly recommend it.

Not Quite Like in the Movie,

This review is from: Barnyard (Audio CD)
Barnyard is great all-around except for that idea that cows can be male or female (and there are bulls in some scenes). Clean animation, great story, good characters (even if the guys have udders), and great music. The North Mississippi Allstars provide a lot of this film's music but there are others as well. Few movies deserve a soundtrack album as much as this one does. But the reality is that when I played the disk I was a little disappointed. Sure, the music is there but the versions are different from the film. The two most notable are with Bombastic (sung by a fat rat in the film) and the Wild Mike montage. On the soundtrack, Bombastic is much longer as well as racier. The wild Mike montage works well in the movie but the musical transition when Wild Mike is lying down is just a few seconds in the film but as long as the entire scene on the soundtrack.
I bought this because my kids were singing the songs from the movie. It doesn't help when they are different on the soundtrack. After hearing the songs in the movie and on the soundtrack, the whole family prefers the arrangements in the film. This may not be true for you but it is for us. Still, there is a lot of talent on this disk and is still a lot of fun. Its just annoying to notice the differences. Check it out.

Barnyard Soundtrack,

I watched this film with my grand-daughter, loved the film and loved the music even more. I bought the soundtrack and was disappointed to find that at least 4 of the tracks from the actual movie weren't on it. They are: Do Your Thing performed by Basement Jaxx, Sister Rosetta performed by Alabama 3, Truck Song and Slow Ride, both performed by Paul Calder. Since people generally buy a movie soundtrack because they liked the music they heard is the film, what is the point of not including all the songs on the movie soundtrack? Other than that, the music is great and the album is worth buying, as long as you aren't buying it for any of those tracks!!
