Informative, but very dry..,

This is the required text for a baroque-era history class that I'm taking currently. I admit I haven't read it cover to cover yet, but thus far I'm finding this text to be dreadfully dry.. It's quite informative, and the actual layout of the book is somewhat interesting (arranged more or less by archetype/character; i.e. The Missionary, The Preacher), but I wouldn't describe it as 'fun'.
