You can't go wrong with the Canadian Brass,
By A Customer
This review is from: Go For Baroque! - The Canadian Brass (Audio CD)
You really can't go wrong with any CD by the Canadian Brass; they're such an outstanding group. Because of this, it can oftentimes be difficult to choose which of their CDs to purchase. However, if you are looking for a Canadian Brass CD focused around the more classical aspect of music, "Go For Boroque!" is an excellent choice. Compared to the other CB baroque CD, I feel this one is the better. It has a lot more tracks, and the songs, in my opinion, are better. It has everything from my personal favorite, "We Hasten with Eager Footsteps," to "Trumpet Voluntary," to "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor," which is more closely associated with "Phantom of the Opera." I highly recommend this recording.

This recording is a treasure. In fact I lost the original copy I had, and had to rebuy it. I still listen to it after more than 5 years. Get it.

I love this Album, I got it at FYE before they closed where I live and have been extremely satisfied. My son and I listen to it and he loves it a lot too! I just can't get enough brass music, I love the way small chamber and large brass ensembles sound. All the songs are played like you'd expect Canadian brass to play them. I cannot find any blemishes in the playing of any kind at all. I emailed them right after I bought and listened to this and the tuba player was happy to hear how much I loved and enjoyed listening to him and the others play this music. the selection of pieces couldn't have been better. I like the first song, it just sounds like it should be the first one. Toccata and Fugue in D is my favorite on this album. Obviously this is all Baroque and there are more bach pieces at 8 tracks of his music, most are his Organ works arrange for the quintet to play, Pedals and all as heard from the tuba in Toccata and Fugue. This piece is so well played, it is very hard for any amateur player to reproduce like this guy does. The other player I enjoy, I like the Trombone players style and sound, the Horn player has an exquisite smooth sound and the trumpets are bright and brisk in the pieces they need to be. I highly recommend this Cd to model your playing after if you are a brass player.
