5.0 out of 5 stars Groovy chill-out ambient cd!, January 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Barramundi: An Introduction To A Cooler World (Audio CD)
This was the third of the three Barramundi cds I purchased although it is in the first in this series. I absolutely love this cd! Favorite tracks include the one by Melt, Rapino Brothers and Helium's "What is the humane Machine". This is the type of music for those who want something that is ambient and relaxing yet has a trance-dance edge to it as well. The album is quite unforgettable and a true classic. I also reccomend vol. 2 "Dreamtime Planet" and vol. 3 "The Spirit of Wandjina" as well. Also, try Waveforms A.D. series (One a.d., two a.d., and three a.d.) as well as the "Feed Your Head" series, "Logic Trance 2" 2-cd, and the "Excursions in Ambience" series. If you like any of these albums the rest are sure to be right up your alley!

This CD is a must have for those who enjoy great ambient music. From the dance-oriented JayDee to the Rapino Brothers with Go Ahead London single, this album is pure aural pleasure.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent mood music, December 13, 1998

The ultimate ambient CD for sleeping and night-time relaxing. I literally imbedded grooves onto the disc from overplay. Vol 2 & 3 are also nice additions for the collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A SUPERB "FIRST COLLECTION" FROM BARRAMUNDI, November 5, 2009
This review is from: Barramundi: An Introduction To A Cooler World (Audio CD)
Well, in science class a "Barramundi" (Lates calcarifer) is a species of catadromous fish in family Latidae of order Perciformes. But in music, it's the name of several great Ambient collections Dreamtime Planet: The Second Barramundi Sampler, The Spirit of Wandjina: The Third Barramundi Sampler, etc.) released by New York-based record label "Astralwerks," that specializes in electronic music (usually more along the lines of Alternative/Popular electronica),

The Barramundi compilations are some of the best "Ambient House" music released in recent years. The first selection, "Think 4 A While" by Jaydee is almost literally "worth the price of the album."

This album and the other Barramundi samplers will get significant "airplay" on your stereo.
